I feel sorry for you on that one but it made such a grate video. Your lost, our gain. When in comes to intermittent issues those usually remain a mastery, such as the green wire. What it looks to me is that when you were pushing your probe against the back of the ignition switch I think, you were making contact but when you were putting you probe on the fuse itself you were breaking contact. See how when you start moving you switch around the engine crank. Thats my opinion, I wasnt there.

My boss takes on crap like this all the time. Why? Not many shops, very few, accept this stuff. A shop of guys close to retirement who refuse to invest in newer more efficient equipment from this century. Yea we spend hours and sometimes days to resolve simple or moderately difficult problems. And you need to have someone hold your hand. I would love to work alone. Nowadays you need to be an engineer to diag battery drains. So it seems.

Green wire coming out of start position on switch should go to PCM to process start signal against transmission range sensor signal and passive antitheft pass signal. Then, it should go out to the starter relay. Comm loss kills relay signal. Why your wiring diagrams don't show that, I couldn't say. Not surprising tho, as all your different tech programs give different information and some excel better than others at times.

Money quote, .that's the front bumper you can see THROUGH up there. I can't imagine not telling a mechanic that I'd had an engine fire. The only thing I can imagine -- given the fire was small enough not to take out the vehicle -- is that the owner was so clueless they didn't notice the smoke and never looked under the hood.

The ICP and the rest of the 3 wire con. are a common pigtail at ford stealership parts. common fault and meltdown. There was TSB/recalls on that for melting of wire etc. It could short 5. 0 ref and kill the truck or make it stumble run. Almost as bad as trucks burning from brake light switches: .

The green wire goes into the engine compartment along the right side harness to the interrupt relay that is controlled by the FICM. If for any reason the FICM loses CANBUS comms it will cut the relay and start feeds to keep the engine from damaging the injectors.

Ford decided since they make excellent electronics capable of igniting at anytime, they should also leave off the fuse id from the fuse box lid.
Customer: Rough estimate for repairs mr mechanic?
Mechanic: Depends, what kind of trucks do you prefer?

My truck caught fire hosed it with a fire extinguisher. Then I jumpers splice and did a hack wire job now my truck won't even crank. I guess I will tell Eric o. only that my truck won't start. Eric O. hold my beer, hour half later trucks running!

We see so many come through our machine shop, we label them exhaust stroke. Remember, where there's smoke, there's a Ferd. BUT, it will be coming from everywhere but the tires. Exhaust, valve covers, main seal. but NOT the tires!

Also i probably changed 200 of the pigtails and sensors before they melted and burned the trucks lol. They ran so bad before burning ever happens the people wanted to know what was wrong. so this owner is flat out stubborn lol.
