I have been working on my truck last several days. Basic maintenance. Replacing leaking seals. U joints. Chassis inspection and lube.
Got to the front diff on my Chevy. Dropped it. Started work next moaning. As I cleaned the beast. I knew axle seals were needed. Then I discovered bad axle needle bearings.
Lucky me. All the parts I needed were available. I even had my blind hole puller. Then I could not get my stub shaft back in the hole. After a hour. I pulled out the axle retaining snap ring.
My local Chevy dealer had them in stock. Got 2 for the money. About 1 more hour of getting the snap ring to line up and in went the stub shaft.
Put the sucker on my floor jack. Slowly jacked it up. My little 6 year ole grandson showed up and said. Can I help gawwpa?
I said yes. Little by little he worked the floor jack and in she went. Started my final assembly
Added fluids and button up.
Took her for a spin.
It's been about 10 years since I've replaced seals. But never touched my front diff.
Since I had the funds. I decided to do the full skinny. Next I'm dropping my trans filter. Change gasket and fluid. And perform a minor inspection of the valve body. Some days it's smooth as butter and some days it's a harsh shift. After 365 k miles. Maybe it's time to rebuild. Maybe it's minor issue of a sticking valve. Who knows.

What we have here is a failure to 'municate. Built-in microphones on new cameras are more responsive than built-in mics on older cameras. That said, loud sounds always take precedence over less loud sounds (ie. loud background sounds will wipe out less loud human speech. New camera microphones are better at wiping out less loud human speech than older camera microphones.
The way to make human speech louder is to 1) Yell, or 2) move the microphone closer to the human voice box. The solution is to wear a wireless clip-on microphone, or buy what is called a shot-gun mic which will be a little more selective about what it hears.

Your environment dictates the sound, not you or the camera. Your content is dictated by your fastidious attention to detail, your expertise, and the acute problem solving mind that you have, treating each vehicle without bias, or preconception in your methodology. As a mechanic turned medico, I can say I'd have no problem having you look after my family! The care you take in each vehicle is superb, unfailing, and absolutely so consistent. I'm sure you carry that through all aspects of your life, and I salute you from Australia.

I learned the hard way never to trust one source of information. My 5. 4 3V Triton was misfiring on one cylinder. So I hook up a cheap scan tool, get my favorite repair manual and proceed to replace the coil, boot and plug for that cylinder. But it was not the right cylinder. I had no time because of work and kids so I just dropped it off at Ford and it was the cylinder next to the one in my book. The mechanic said well at least you were close.

The wisdom of Ohms Law. great diagnostics, great catch on the bad cylinder order. glad to see Mrs. O is keeping an eye on you; ). she really does have wonderful smile, love bonus footage (kids, dogs, Josh and Phil also). I upgraded my old 1 port Cherokee injectors with 4 port Bosch injectors. better response and a bit better millage. got 22 years and 260K out of the old ones. they fell apart in my hands as I removed them. lol

A friend of mine back in the 70s yanked all his plugs and wires off his 289 ford and could not get it to run. Called me to help. All I owned where chevys. I was a little pissed when I found out they all don't number their cylinders the same. The left handed lug nuts got me a couple of times too. After that I made anyone wanting my help they had to go buy the chilton manual.

It's insane how much we spend on service data a Month with all the providers that have service data including dealership data well over 2 grand a month for me but it provides us with the data we need to service so many automotive brands at our shops Good video Eric O South Main Auto Repair LLC

Hello Eric! The mic on that camera is a very sensitive condenser mic but it sounds excellent! I can hear the sibilants in your voice with your back towards the camera. I think the background noise gives it more ambiance. Just your typical sound engineer/Weddind DJ/shade tree mechanic.

Maybe plug intake ports so you don't drop something down the hole. Maybe remove all injectors and re-oring them. I made a rig to clean and bench flow test the injectors. That's me a little ocd. I like to clean injector ports with bottle brush and 2+2. Good diag as usual.

Eric you are AWESOME.
You did a video on a Honda V6 3. 5 overhead cam belt replacement. I think it was on a pilot but doesn't matter same engine. I followed all your steps and did it myself and it turned out perfect. Thank you so much!

So ironically, this video is normal compared to the last couple. My TV is usually at 15 for most videos. It has been double or more the past couple videos. I am not one to complain. Just letting you know. Sounds normal on this video

I must know, doesn t it irritate you to not have the parking brake set? The care rolls forward and back each time you lean against it. I dunno, maybe it s just a pet peeve when I work on stuff. Weirder things have been true.
