Change your car with Carwow: The Tesla Model Y has been updated! But this is no ordinary facelift - there are a whole load of changes both inside and out! Mat’s had a chance to get his hands on one before the official unveiling, and he’s about to run you through what’s changed. In terms of the design, there have been a whole load of updates. There’s a new bonnet and new wings on either side, and the headlights have been updated as well. A light bar has been added, too, which is giving serious Cybertruck vibes! Along the side, the only changes are new alloy designs, while around the back there’s an updated spoiler, new tail lights that reflect the light across the badge, and a new diffuser. All in all, the looks are a serious improvement over the original Y! On the inside the design is almost identical to the new Model 3. However, there’s one BIG change - the indicator stalk has returned in place of buttons on the steering wheel! Elsewhere, the changes are the same as in the Model 3. The seats are comfier and are now ventilated, and the dash design has been updated too. When it comes to performance, it comes with the same batteries and motors as the previous car. So this Launch Edition Model Y has dual motors to produce 384hp, as well as a 75kWh battery. There will be a single-motor edition, but the stats are yet to be revealed. The previous Model Y had a price tag of 52, 000. In contrast, this new edition starts at 61, 000 - a 9, 000 increase! So is it worth it You’ll need to stick with Mat to see for yourself! Its quiet obvious that at least in the US Tesla is trying to push the launch edition to customers with FSD which cost almost $12k more than current model Y for similar specs. This will help Tesla with improving their margins in the short term. But I wonder how long can they sell this higher priced version before sales start to decrease. Also with slightly used 2 yr old EVs with 20-25k miles costing around 40-45% less getting the launch edition might not be a good choice.
Personally I am disappointed as my 2018 Model S had 330 miles range out of the factory and after 7 yrs Tesla Model Y can't do 400 miles on a single charge which personally for me would have been a sweet spot. I guess I will wait for non launch editions to release later this yr and trade in my Model S.

Lets be honest M3 and MY had perfect design. No need to make the car more ugly to save some money, but Elon want to get super rich and shoot rockets. Less stalks etc. The only positive thing is front camera on the bumper wich is much better for parking. But for that they want 9000$ more haha what a joke.
Nio ET5 cars are more expensive but you get more battery, all stalks, parking, LIDAR sensor, good suspension and more premium proper car!

I have an issue with the way you measure door shut noise (and not just this car. When you shut a door with all the windows on all the doors shut there is a buffer of air in the car which helps the door shut quieter. A more rigorous test is to have at least one window open, removing the buffer effect and revealing all the real rattles the door is making.

Good video. and I'm sure somebody else has already mentioned it. but the launch edition comes with FSD and numerous other perks that are free. or at no extra charge. All four currently available paint colors are standard, no extra charge. Also the tow hitch. So, if you chose all those upgrade options. it's actually cheaper than the older version.

After 2 years of owning a Model YP that’s annoying
Not having any kind of individuality whatsoever ever interior the same black or white ever 3rd Tesla drives past you is the same colour. This is fine until you try to sell it then you are just 1 of 100 blue cars for sale all the same no spec advantage so only thing left is mileage and age.

Im glad to see they realize the issue with night time headlights and didn't build an indent for the Model Y like how they did the cybertruck. That stuff gets coated and filled with snow during the winter and hoping they will fix that with the next gen cybertruck along with all the other issues.

They’ve done nothing but to copy the design/outlook from their rival EV makers in China! XPENG, go and check out P7 ( have been in the market with this design for years and G6 ) btw, I’m very disappointed, as an early Tesla owner. I’m still driving it and love it though

Well, judging by the comments, suspect Tesla might be losing some customers and not gaining any potential ones. I already know of about 3 friends who are shipping in theirs and going either German or Chinese. Don't give the man the money.

Launch edition comes with FSD, acceleration boost, tow hitch, upgraded wheels option and choice of paint which are all increased cost. If you account for all of that and you care about those features it’s actually cheaper than old model Y

What kind of re-branding of the videos, is this! I want the old Watson back, not this version with a bunch of one liners and fast pacing showing of features. Get rid of those people who told you, this format is the way to go, please!

7: 10 Cars are getting cheaper, not more expensive, especially electric cars which hardly anyone wants anymore. That was a big mistake. There goes their high volume. Let's see if the Model Y doesn't go the way of the Cybertruck.

First thing to say: they still fail to put some nice looking hubs for wheels. They still look ridiculous. The back light bar it is at least weird. Could have done more interesant. Because the trunk lid is way too big.

Fantastic car, lots of great improvements! Elon is a true genius, and I fully support his political stance as well. So happy for him and the American people. Let's hope Europe also will see the light some day: )

Please don't review any more Tesla. Read the room. If anyone is buying one after the events of the last few days I'd be surprised. If you do so, you're basically saying you agree with Musk and his political meddling.
reply

The only thing that they should do was just adding a new screen for the driver, that's all! They made it ugly and it is still unpractical!
I wonder whether the Elon guy is a genious or a regular othistic!

reply

No matter how good it is, I can’t support a Nazi that spends his days thinking of which extremist far group he will support whilst putting everyone’s lives in danger with his bigotry and disinformation lies
reply

The call isn't more expensive than before. If you include like for like it wouldn't be the case. The reason why it's more expensive is because it has a whole bunch, more physical upgrades plus FSD.
reply

I mean there were stories of tesla's catching fire and the doors locking the passengers in and turning the car into a gas chamber. the signs were always there, it just took us this long to realise.
reply

im thinking the new one should be pretty close to old price when non launch edition launches, as launch comes with every upgrade, like fsd, colors interior, and exterior
reply

Why do so many modern cars now have this taillight strip across the entire width of the car Also Audi and Porsche and others have this design now. I think it looks horrible.
