I test drove one of these. my genuine opinion. They are really really cheaply built in Czech republic with a very rushed assembly line. If you look at the welds from the boot and general build standard they look really poor/ possibly nasty and modern cars have very little chassis with quite thin metal. Most cars are much more cheaply made these days. look at Dacia Duster, their roof collapse when they roll over due to weak A and B pillars. The fact is it must be affecting overall safety with these fast built cheaply made cars. steering is sharp and suspension ok for potholes but when driving you can just tell it is a cheaply built car. The 1. 6 engines are best avoided and the 1. 7 Diahatsu diesel engine is better but it is rough when revved. As a daily runabout the Tucson is fine. would I feel it is safe enough to have kids in the back or driving this on a motorway. no but many modern cars are similar. Having driven one it made me realise these are -built to a price- so do not pay over the odds for one. Offer at least 1000 lower than your target price and point out the substandard build quality and you can go elsewhere to buy one. If buying a used car look for paint overspray in wheel arches, also check the brake disks. If they look worn, ask for them to be replaced. Many used car garages take on cars but dont check the brake disc condition so you could be buying a car with part worn brakes. Always test drive the Actual car you are buying. it may have a fault not exhibited on another one.

If you are interested in this, the slightly older model of the Tucson, be aware there are some inaccuracies about the engines in this review in terms of the UK market. Matt refers to the petrol engine as being underpowered and you should just avoid it, but there are 2 petrol engines in the UK. Although the standard 1. 6 petrol is under powered for the weight of the car, the 1. 6 turbo petrol is powerful enough to make this reasonably quick (0-60 sub 9sec. The following older Tucson models had the 1. 6 turbo petrol engine as an option:
Sept15-Dec15 Premium
Jun17-Aug18 Sport
Feb18-Aug18 Go SE

i got a brand new 2019 model 1. 6 gdi last week and its going back to the dealership today. if anyone gets one of these stay away from the 1. 6 gdi because its rubbish, only had mine for 7 days. its advertised as doing 50 plus mpg which is a lot different to the 30mpg i was getting. i would have a another Tucson but deffo not a 1. 6 gdi. if you get stuck behind a tractor make your self comfortable because your not getting past it, just let everyone past. seriously underpowered.

Mat, we bought the Premium 2016 model late last year. Panoramic roof, LED lights and all the toys for boys you could ever need. We love the strong styling of it and it is the 2. 0 ltr diesel, so has a bit of oomph when required and when using cruise control, I can get well over 40 mpg and that's even driving about the streets (like a Priest mind you. We love it and this is our 2nd Hyundai. The last one was the IX35 which was bullet proof too.

Hello. Can you help me to choose what car to buy? Jeep renegade limited with a panoramic roof and on the 1. 6 diesel which costs 22, 500 euros, Hyundai Tucson with the highest equipment package (leather seats, front and rear parking sensors, seat heaters) which is 1. 6 gasoline that costs 22, 500 euros, or package as the film, 1. 7 diesel, that cost 22, 500 euros? and why? Thanks!

You need to do long term reviews, I have a 9 month old Hyundai Tucson with 55670 miles on the clock, just been told the clutch and gearbox need replacing. Something to do with engine running too fast and it-s a very common problem. Do yourself a favour and search Hyundai Tucson problems on google before wasting your money on this useless car.

I hate hyundai their cars are ugly, but the elantra sedan is good looking, but interior is disgusting, no premium materials, ony plastic for god sake hyundai put premium materials, i had a hyundai Tucson, and the first week i sold it because it was terrible, and got an ford edge instead which is so much better.

Had this car for a couple of weeks as a hire car. Commanding view of the road. Couldn't fault the build quality and generous space inside. Shame about the engine though - very sluggish. A Hyundai i10 would reach 0-60 in a quicker time than the Tucson and I've driven both.

Test drive other cars before buying a Tucson. good looking yes. but has rather cheap components and poor suspension. 1. 6GDI petrol is very low on torque and CRDI diesel can be noisy. Steering gearing is not good and car feels and drives like a mk1 fiesta.

If looking at Tucson also consider Kia Sportage. same chassis and engines but may be better overall package depending what you want. the market is flooded with these cars so specify what you want or state you can go elsewhere. ensure you get a good deal
