SEAT Ateca 2020 SUV in-depth review - carwow

The Seat Ateca is the Spanish car manufactures first attempts at a family SUV with obvious comparisons to its sister car, the Volkswagen Tiguan. This begs the question, is the Ateca a cheap interpretation, or a worthy rival to the Hyundai Tuscon, Nissan Qashqai and Ford Kuga? Can it even pass the carwow flick test? Does the Ateca sport Seat-s trademark stiff suspension? I give you the full lowdown on this practical SUV in this full in-depth review

The one thing that really annoyed me about the Ateca, Karoq & Tiguan, and probably a no deal breaker for me is the position of the arm rest when the driver seat is at a high position. I want an arm rest while driving, I always did, for comfort. The steering wheel is also at a brutal position even when adjusted to suit the seating position. Very bad flaw in my opinion. Disappointed to say the least, I was excited about test driving them until I noticed it.

This crossover in my country full optioned is 700 pounds more expensive than a tucson which there is hardly any option on it and weighs 200 kilos more, shitty interior design and quality, full optioned ateca has, LED headlights, 360 cameras, electronic tailgate, alcantara seats, BLIS, full link, automatic emergency braking, and keyless entry so whoever buys the highest trim tuscon over the full optioned ateca is just mad

EU money goes to the poorer areas of Spain, but the best roads are in the richest areas (Vasque Country, Catalonia, Madrid, Valencia. You could have better infrastructures in Britain if you didn't spend so much money in nuclear submarines. Also it would help if rich people of UK also paid taxes, not only the working class. Germany and France also have good roads. I wonder who will you blame after 2019.

This car/suv has no independent rear suspension. Instead it has a torsion beam which gives it the suspension characteristics of a tractor going over a speed ramp. If you want to launch yourself into outerspace everytime you go over a bump than this is the car for you, if not keep away from this and anything with torsion beam rear suspension. Just saying.

Oh yeah in Spain everyone is employed by resurfacing roads with EU money. good way to justify British neglectness when it comes to repairing your shitty roads. the lack of money because all of your money goes to Spain to subsidize Spanish workers. such a Brexiteer silly unrealistic approach to your own neglectness as a country

I have ordered (in France) an Ateca (20/12/2016) and I'm still waiting (01/08/2017.
The internet forums (UK, France and others) have, highlighted this problem since the car was first available (or not)
A great car but pin your dealer down to a delivery date and then expect it to change.
SEAT needs to get a grip.

VW and their small engines cant give you 5 years warranty any more and showing how economy are their cars but not saying that this engines are for scrap after few years also gearboxes of VW are not very reliable too i was big fan of VW but now to be honest i think i will get Ford than a VW

Why pay 10000-15000 Euros more for tiguan/vw or A5/Audi? much the same cars like Seat and Skoda.
-Skodas suv/cars kodiaq/karoq are best in test, and they have good prices to-
Same german teknologi in all off this cars even made in same factorys ateca, karoq, Audi A3/A5, kodiaq.

Excellent review as usual. Except little missinformation there. This car wasn't engeneered in Spain, it was engineered in Czechia (or Czech republic if You want) with its -brother- Skoda Karoq, both are made in the same factory in Czechia - Skoda Kvasiny.

Another way to improve ride quality is to get AWD. The extra weight eases the ride and stops the car from bouncing around due to less weight of the 2WD version. It worsens fuel economy but on the other hand improves handling in all weather conditions.
