The Audi A8 faces tough competition in the luxury saloon class from the likes of the popular Mercedes S-Class and technological powerhouse, the BMW 7 Series. With a new model having been spotted undergoing testing, how does the current Audi A8 stack up? Has it stood the test of time, or does it feel dated? It certainly doesn't look the most exciting saloon, but does it make up for this with its impeccable ride Find out all my thoughts and more in this in-depth video review of the Audi A8

Audi better pull their fingers out and release the all new a8, looks exactly like the prologue if they wanna challenge the s class. Doesn't matter how much they throw shit loads of technologies in the car but if it looks boring the s class will still rule in this segment as most of people who can afford this flagship sedan will choose the one that looks desirable and posh rather than anything else because it'll be their item that states their status symbol.

To compare this car with the S-class and 7-series is not really fair. Those cars you are driven in, this car you drive!
I have driven those cars and it's like floating on a cloud, very comfortable, but not very fun. Here Audi have made a luxury sedan sporty. That's why firmer air suspension and 4x4. Made to drive!

I too cant tell the difference between the A6 and A8 maybe sometimes I do but I'm still almost guessing, I hate this thing about cars it's like every better model is just bigger and more expensive.
bmws are a bit like that too
mercs are the easier to tell but the new models also make it difficult

I own the A8L 2008 3. 0 TDI. It's a livingroom on weels, it's a dream. Im going to buy a newer model, A8 2014 3. 0 TDI. I drop the L because truut me, it's too looong and it gets hard to park it sometimes. Overall, I prefer it against the S class because of the extra options, dashboard and technology.

The thing I love about Audi is that the outdated cars even look very current. Take this A8 for instance. If it were to come out this year from a different manufacturer, the design would even look more futuristic than most other common-looking rivals. Even a 2007 Audi looks like it came from 2015.

I know it's a broken record but it would be handy if reviewers held Audi accountable for how similar these cars look. You say an A6, honestly I'm a car guy and when I first saw one of these I pointed to my mates and said -the new A4 looks so dull and bulky- only to see the A8 badge!

For known reasons there are a lot of associations with VW. If I'm going to pay as much for a luxury car I would make sure there isn't a sub brand that makes its cheaper versions.
I know there are some Audi lovers out there, but it's definitely falling behind its rivals.

It rides better and faster than its competition. Great car. In first quarter 2017, we will see the new A8. I like their tehnique because it is only vehicle with aluminium construction and lighter than S class and 7 series.

Average mileage display on test was actually 30. 6mpg rather than the 36mpg Mat stated so somewhat further adrift of Audi's claimed 48mpg. Mind you, anyone lucky enough to afford an A8 is unlikely to be that bothered! -

the head to head is going to be abit obvious. the 7 series will win. the guy mostly picks the car has been recently redesigned as the winner. i won't be surprised if the s class wins it either.
