This bloke can big up this car all he wants but I had a Golf Life today as a courtesy car whilst my MK7 was being serviced.
Putting it simply, I hated it. The internal operation of essential everyday actions is a pain and cannot be carried out safely in a moving car.
Obviously with time and perseverance I would have been more at ease with it but not to be able to make simple Aircon adjustments by tactile knobs is a complete nonsense and that goes for anythig else as well. Particularly ridiculous is the small central shiny panel with the 'Clima' button on it and other functions is not illuminated during the day anyway so I could not see where to put my finger in order to bring up the Aircon menu.
I won't go on as clearly it's not for me and I could not wait to get rid of it back to the main VW dealer.

The Golf 8 is a step back in quality from the 7. The 7 was a step back in quality from the 6. Many cost savings have been made, but new technology has been used to distract.
It must be fun driving past a bonfire and haven't to step through the touchscreen options to turn on internal air circulation.
I looked at the Octavia, thinking -the target market for Skodas is old people, surely they still have knobs and switches-. Nope Skoda have gone and done the same thing with the Octavia too.
VAG have lost the plot. I've been a Golf driver for 12 years, now I'm looking elsewhere as it just feels like they are taking the pee.

I drove today this golf MK8, with the thought of replacing my golf MK7. The golf mk8 interior trim has very cheap plastics and the car feels a step down in quality. The driving experience is the same as the MK7. Even when you close the doors it feels and sounds cheap. No matter what these car reviewers say, go and drive the car before you make up your mind. I was very disappointed, the car was brand new and there were rattles from the cheap plastics. And those screens are crap!

I drove a rental one yesterday - I am 1. 80 and was not able to get a comfortable front seating position. I like to have my right foot extended in a way that when rested it doesn't press the gas. It looks great inside but the infotainment system is HORRIBLE - I would never buy it, it doesn't lag, it just didn't respond to 80% of my swipe movements. I can not stress this enough, it is a horrible horrible system

I bought my Golf at a VW dealership yesterday and they brought up the contracts on a table that was also a large touch screen and I had to use a super unresponsive touch pen to sign everything. It honestly felt like it added 10 minutes to the 30 minute process because of all the bugs and confusion from the salesman lmao. This feels similar. I'm glad I got the 2018 model.

The design of Golf 2020 seems to be getting worse over the years. -
Rear design is fine, but the front looks like the eyes and face of the car are melting down.
That interior design is cheap and also messed up.
The screen is not clear, the responsiveness is too slow, and the interface is outdated.
I don't think I'll ever buy this version of the car.

I had the chance to drive a 2021 Golf and I can honestly say the the digital controls were very incovenient to use. In the dark, evening turning the volume up/down was a quite a task. Too much technology perhaps not supported by a well thought-out layout and usability, which is surprising being a VW.

The new Golf was on my list for a new car this year! I took one look at the interior and binned it from my list! What is VW trying to pull here? The whole of the interior of looks flimsy and cheap! Certainly not reflective of the mark and it-s heritage! Cheap an nasty materials for a ridiculously inflated price!

Autonomous braking system assist in this car is dangerous matt needs a review of its own. Can be turned off but lights up the dash. Has a habit of braking at any speed when it detects a danger that 90% of the time dont even exist even in a straight line.

If it werent for the touchscreen heater controls I'd give this car a 9 out of 10 more roomy up front than the mk 7 handles better just not sure if it will be reliable, the one I tested would increase in revs after the car stopped.
