You're getting a two-for-one with our newest drag race! The Audi RS3, RS5 Sportback, S4 and RS4 B7 (aka the old model) are all going head-to-head! In one corner, can the new RS3 - powered by a 2. 5-litre engine with 400hp - defeat the RS5 and its 2. 9-litre, twin-turbo V6 with 450hp? In the other, it's old vs new as the RS4 B7 (and its 420hp, 4. 2-litre V8) takes on the 347hp DIESEL S4, with a 3. 0-litre V6! Who'll come out on top? Join Mat and see!

Older cars can often lose power over time and the FSI in the RS4 is notorious for coking up and these carbon deposits can easily knock 50bhp off the headline figure. It has to be manually removed too AFAIK. It would be nice to know a bit more and maybe put them on a dyno. We have no idea what that RS4 is pumping out but when I had mine de-coked a couple of years ago, the garage sent pictures of loads of crap they removed and it was definitely faster afterwards. Hard to say how much without timing it on the same day in the same conditions but I-d guess over half a second to 100mph. It was just over 11 seconds before and about 10. 5 afterwards (with a great start, although I-m not a drag racer - it-s not really my thing anyway - and normally I-m sympathetic with the clutch!

If I could pick any of those. it would be the RS5. I would sell it, buy a used B7 rs4 and put the rest in the stock market.
I had a B7 once. Man, that generarion was the sweet spot between just enough modern tech and safety but not yet so conplicated that a faulty part would break the bank. Besides that car was build to last forever. I regret selling it sooo much.

Unfortunately Audi seems to be following the trend of making cars worse. The 2022 RS3 no longer has a gear shifter stick. It's this little switch you use your thumb and forefinger to change. It's horrible. Plus, no more circular vents, which I personally liked. They were extremely utilitarian. There are some other shitty changes too. Disappointing.

3rd in the B9 is almost the same as 2nd in the B7! It would have won the rolling race at 50mph anyway but if you-d had the B7 in 2nd, it would probably have pulled ahead for a couple of seconds before eventually losing out but would have been closer.

Mixed editing, some was done on a wet day, the race was done on a dry day. They had a previous race RS4 B7 loosing at(14 sec) to a S3 and saying how much faster the S3 was at (13. 6 sec)
In this race the RS4 B7 did the 1/4 in 13. 6 sec?

Wouldn't it be more fair to have manual in 2nd for rolling race? Manuals have fewer, longer gears compared to modern autos. Right here, at 40mph it was still in first gear, while diesel one shifted to 3rd at about 45mph.

Is it odd I like the RS3 the most? That Inline 5 turbo sounds like the best of Audi for years of past. The RS5 is fast but the 2. 9L V6 twin turbo isn't as special as the old RS4 4. 2L V8.

Let-s see how much they are all worth in 20 years time though; ) the b7 RS4 legacy will live on while these other boring (albeit fast cars) are on a one way street to becoming a distant memory!

I don't care. B7 RS4 all day. That V8 and manual gearbox just is the pinnacle of cars.
Diesel S4. Just wrong, mate.
5 Cyl is cool, but meh.
What were those other ones again? -Yawn-

The RS3 was my daily driver for 3 years. It was surprisingly relaxing. you had nothing to prove at the lights and most boy racers wanted no part of it. -
