I've been driving a hire GLE 350d for the last couple of weeks while one of my cars is off the road - I almost bought one of these SO glad I went for an X7 instead. Maybe it's because it was brand new when the hire company delivered it but compared to my BMW it's positively agricultural. Stop start system incredibly jerky, holds gears too long whatever drive setting you use, windscreen wipers like I had on a Ford Sierra about 30 years ago, lots of scratchy plastic and fake wood with sharp edges, rear electric seat button failed to operate, digital dash steering wheel controls appallingly designed. the list could go on. I'd certainly place Mercedes well down the German car pecking order for build quality behind Porsche, BMW, all VAG group products. Incredibly disappointed.

Better. at depreciating in value? Sure, they're monstrously quick, and reasonably comfortable (they almost all are these days) but they're not really any different than basic SUV/CUV's in concept and execution but for their drivetrains. and boy, that's the separator that kills their value once warranty is up. Good luck to the 2nd owners or the 1st owner to purchase the vehicle after the lessee turns it in.

I -drive- these cars on a daily basis I work in a 5 star hotel in Austria and park the guests cars. BMW's Mercs Audi's all of them this gle Amg also. Sort of like Mat but only parking them yeah it sucks but still let me tell you it's just great being able to drive these cars. Especially the top specced models are amazing. Big brutes dough difficult to manuevre. Great luxurious things but nothing to die for really.

Mat and me: Why Merc still put fake exhausts on their cars after years of complaint?
Merc: We sell a lot of cars in -SOME COUNTRIES-. Those people love fake exhausts, as much as they love to put socks in their pants.
BMW: This is the same reason why the nose on our cars are getting bigger and bigger.

Great video as usual Matt but at 13 mins deff sounded like you said amg jelly! which i thought was bit of joke at the wobbly size of the thing but it's your GLE quick talking, or maybe my earoles need cleaning. what a drag race would be all these brutes, This v Urus v X5M V RSQ8 and Alfa quadrafoly thingy, Nice!

Please dispel a myth - can you tow with the AMG version of the GLE? I-ve heard that you can-t, and yet I-ve heard you can but only if you spec it from the factory. Others say you can fit a towbar any time after delivery.

who in the world can afford these cars, even my friend as a computer scientist can't allow himself to waste money on these cars, they're like 1k+ a month to lease or finance with km restrictions

as far as the 5 seat suv market goes i think mercedes has enough performance and beats the rivals with interior quality their mercedes benz infotainment system is the best on the road
