Let me guess, you can have the VW in any color so long as its. gray? Is VW building cars for the military now? This Passat would fit right in unnoticed. The reason that the digital screen doesn't extend to the ends is that VW always comes up with these peculiar ways to remind you that its appointments are always a step down from luxury brand.
Like all power accessories but with manual seats. Who would buy that Europeans? Certainly not North Americans. A power tilt steering wheel, with manual telescope. Another weird combination. Or soft touch on the front sills but not the rear. A heads-up display, but obsolete first generation on a new car.
Same thing with the infotainment system where its not quite refined with just the most basic features. My biggest issue with VW products is that there's nothing unique or special about them that would make someone want to buy it over other more reliable or fuel efficient brands. There is zero attention to detail inside or out. There's never been anything VW can do that the others can't for less. Except the Golf. Where its fun-to-drive keeps it going. for now.

I still can't believe VW decided to kill the Passat all together. I always thought it was their bestseller after Golf. In the words of the great Bob Dylan - times they are a changing. Electric cars - they are a coming.
I really love the exterior of this -new- Passat, but the interior is incredibly boring and, dare I say it - ugly. For Pete's sake, a car company that is owned by you guys makes some of the best looking interiors in the whole industry. Of course, we all know who I'm talking about. Audi of course. They should allow one of the junior designers from Audi to attend a few meetings when the design team for the Passat interior decides what will it look like. Mind you, here we're looking at the top of the line interior. So it's the best you can get in Passat. Now imagine a basic or mid level model? It has a vibe of a 1999 Passat (minus the screen.

From the whole german and almost-german line up of sister cars, I just dont get the passat. In my opinion it is the dullest car ever made - even compared to a6 it is just boring. It does not give me the luxorious feeling - just boring. Every time i see one i can imagine a bearded 50 or so business man behind the wheel.
Basically this car is the same as skoda superb 2. 0t with 272 bhp which has two 'different' kits (sportline and l&k. In my opinion the l&k is way better looking than the competitors (a6, sportline, passat r) and will probably be the cheapest of the lot / a little more expensive than sportline.
As an l&k 2017 2. 0t (280bhp) owner, i would not waste any more for audi or vw.

I'm a Passat driver myself and I think I'd always spec for the diesel. Fill up the tank and forget about it for 1400km. Also worth mentioning: under the false floor I got so much storage. Currently, under the false floor I got 1 basketball, 1 soccer ball, 1 toolbox, antifreeze, 1 picknick, blanket, 1 big umbrella, 1 kids umbrella and a crank. The fact that I can hold all these things without wasting an inch of cargo space in the boot is amazing.

Funny how 0-60 matters when leaning against a bar with your mates. Me. 50-80 matters more. real world performance. Honestly, when did you last engage launch control going to get milk from the corner shop?
I went bi tdi wagon (240) wagon and got it reprogrammed. No idea in power (diesel so probably not great) but it-s overtaking on any road is brilliant

The main reason why the fuel and engine temperature gage are on the side and not part of the digital display is in case your display no longer works due to electricity problem, at least you will know if you have enough fuel to get to a garage or need to go to as gas station and if your car engine temperature is fine!

The GTE version isn't just 'blue trim to show it's Eco Friendly', it's a Plug-In Hybrid Electric, that can run on battery and electric motor alone for up to 66 miles, I believe. GTE mode can also use the petrol engine and the electric motor for a 'petrol with electric boost' mode.

When my gf drives it the seat is all the way up and when I drive it the seat is all the way down. It's nice because during the cold winter you get some warmth from pumping the jack.
Wish it had electronically controlled seat adjustment though.

I love to drive my 2. 0 btdi with 237hp (4motion) from 2017. Seems to be quite similar to this version. It-s an awesome car for the daily blast on the Autobahn. And as long as you are able to control your right food, the ecomomy is not that bad.

16 Years Later - so amazingly similar to my German Built B6 3. 6 4Motion Passat Wagon - just updated to modern tech but 8 HP less - but of course VW WON-T BRING IT HERE TO THE U. S. - it-s too good so it makes too much sense. WHY VW? WHY?
