I've had 2 Lexus RX's (RX300 and RX350. The first had 221, 000 miles before any kind of issue (outside of a bolt breaking that held the auto-level sensor for the headlights at -160ish, cost $0. 85 for the bolt and about 20 minutes of my time) The issue at 221k was a knock sensor which was pricey at -$1500, but we got rid of it at 225k and got $4000 for it so I'm not at all upset about the knock sensor. The RX350 currently has -115k on it and there has been NOT ONE ISSUE. I'm floored by how reliable these cars really are, I will gladly buy another if the wife decides that's what she wants. (technically it's hers not mine, she drives it)

Renault are garbage as are all French cars. I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. They are the most unreliable in the world and frequently break down. If you are thinking of getting a Renault or any other French car I would instead advise you to get an Alfa Romeo. If you want to break down frequently you may as well do it in style! I won't speak of individual cars but in my view the most reliable car companies in the world at the moment are probably:
1) Lexus
2) Honda
3) Toyota
4) Hyundai
5) Suzuki
6) Kia
7) Mazda
8) Daihatsu
9) Volvo
10) Mitsubishi

before going into this i'm gonna guess that it's gonna be a lot of honda, toyota, and MAYBE one of the newer GMs that doesn't have their 2010s garbage-box transmission. will edit once i complete the video.
edit: i'm surprised to see the cheap dacia, but i'm REALLY surprised to see the nissan nv200, i have a juke that shares the same platform (and the same transmission, if memory serves) and it's kind of a big warning about those CVTs in the states. dunno if the uk version has a different transmission, or if it's just that the manual is probably more common over there.

The problem is this isn-t real world, there-s so many factors to this like how the manufacturer treats recalls and complaints, Toyota is really good with this and that-s the only reason they may seem to be ranked less than you would expect. So you-re ignorant if you don-t realise just how much better Toyota (Honda and Lexus too) is than every manufacturer on this list. That-s why you only want to buy with Toyota (or Lexus/Honda) if you want something to last way over 200k miles with little to no problems.

The only car that I know someone has on that list was the Honda jazz and I-ve heard by a few mechanics that they are amazing and nothing goes wrong, other than that one I doubt the others are reliable if you compare to how many sales on the cars, if there isn-t many being sold then statistically you won-t find many problems and the people who buy cars like that are old people who drive the car once a week - so stats say this is correct but common knowledge says otherwise

The ranking makes no sense. If it-s reliability, then one should look at how many times it breaks down and the actual components that broke down using some sort of scoring system. This video looks at cost of repair, which doesn-t necessarily mean reliability. For example, a Ferrari can break down once with $50k repair vs a Toyota breaking down 10 times a year for total of $10k. I would say the Ferrari is more reliable.

no surprise that most of these cars are models that you seldom, if ever see out on the roads. even i had forgotten the NV200 existed. cant tell you the last time i saw one. in fact the only ones i see on a MONTHLY basis are the Kangoo, Rav 4, Ecosport, UP and Sandero. might see a mazda 2 or honda Jazz every second month along with a nissan leaf on similar timescales. the rest, cant remember last time i saw one!

After seeing so many expensive cars in the least reliable list and so many cheap cars in the most reliable list, I wonder how reliable they actually are, or if the cost of repairs skews the result (yes, I realise this is more a total cost of ownership type thing)
I'd like to see a list solely on cars that are claimed on most/least

VW UP what a joke, my UP was destroyed by a bunch of leaves blocking water from the water gutter (between the motor hood and the windshield. On-board computer got destroyed by water. Repair costs 1000+ euro's. Didn't do it, bought myself a Toyota Yaris, never had problems with the Yaris.
Now I drive a 2019 RAV4, very happy with it!

Well I guess it makes sense that low powered cars which probably share a lot of components with higher powered cars maybe even hot hatches from the same brand are less likely to damage those components cause they put less stress on them. The kangoo surprised me though. Feels like a shitbox faling apart as youre driving it.
