Mercedes S-Class 2021 review - the best car EVER?

It-s the review you-ve all been waiting for. the all-new Mercedes S-Class! It-s the car Mat-s been waiting for oh-so-long to test drive, but will it be worth the wait? Well in this in-depth review, he-ll be taking you over every inch of this new luxury limousine to see whether it has what it takes to compete with its predecessors. When it comes to performance, we already know it-s packing a number of petrol, diesel and hybrid options. For our UK viewers, our petrol options are currently topped off by the S500, which is a 3-litre straight-six turbo that can produce 435hp. But if you-re after more power, you-ll want to choose the hybrid S580e, where the 3-litre straight-six is joined by an electric motor to produce 510hp! But if we're being honest, we-re all waiting for the upcoming AMG S63, which will have a twin-turbo V8 and be able to put down over 600hp! So performance is all well and good, but let-s face it, you-re all probably more excited by the interior! But will it live up to its high expectations? And more importantly, just how good is the infotainment system on that HUGE centre console screen? Well

The screens on the instrument -cluster- is getting more and more ridiculous. I'm all for innovation but there's nothing unique or interesting about the design of that bit anymore. Every car just has a screen. They're not even bothering to integrate it into the design of the rest of the body. It's like having a bunch of ipads and iphones stuck to your car. And basic and most used functions do not need to be put exclusively in the infotainment screen. It's just a basic fact that tactile buttons are easier to reach for and use without looking than a screen.

As the owner of a 2017 S500, I must say this new model is a -crappier- downgrade.
Firstly because Mercedes got rid of it's iconic knob, firstly for a touchpad and now for a Tesla-like tablet screen without any of those stainless steel temperature controls and hardware buttons.
I feel as if all automobile manufacturers are moving to this software centered world where craftsmanship is traded with a few flimsy software buttons with screens hanging all around.
This is less of an S Class and more of a Model S.

Choosing which S class I like most is: 4 and 6 (4 because my parents owned one a couple of decades ago and it was the only S we ever owned, it was one crazy car for it-s time, and then the 6th generation because it was pretty hard to outdo the 5th in design but they absolutely nailed it, when it first came out I couldn-t believe how good it looked.

I have the W220 Sclass500 and absolutly love it! Had it 7 years now and will never sell it. And anyway i hardly use the toys on it so all these fancy high tech toys and so called driving aids are all well and good until they go wrong! .nope im happy with my barge thank you very much

Do you always do your reviews impartially? Or when manufacturers allow you to come and review do you feel you need to big them up more? If that makes sense? And do they ever ask you to give more positive reviews or offer to pay you? I'm intrigued

My fav s class is the 6th generation and that too the last iteration where the got the proportion and designs just right. I think the problem with the new design is they tried making everything so slick that it has lost most of its character.

6th gen looks way better than the 7th gen from the outside. The new one looks elegant but 6th gen had that in your face design that would perfectly compete with the new 7 series design but i do prefer then interior of the 7th gen.

We're loving the look of the new S-Class, but what do you think? Is the seventh generation S-Class the best-looking version yet?

Great review and awesome car but I'm not a fan of the whole tablet-style console trend. It just seems lazy and it detracts from the overall flow of the interior that Mercedes has nailed for generations now

Unreal! If you can get a distracted driving ticket for using a cell phone, how are you supposed to drive your car with all the screens in these new cars? They are such a contradiction of practicality.
