In 2018 onward a Ram 3500 & too also is a great example. I-ve configured, built and priced many vehicles over the years. Especially FCA & JLR models. Ram-s Heavy Duty trucks from base trim you can take it all the way up $100k. In 2018 the 2018 version of the Ram 3500 I built&priced a Ram 3500 Limited Tungsten ( at that time their highest Ram trim) which and managed to make it a $125025 cad. However sometimes when you build&Price in the past 5y on an FCA website it-d sometimes lockout an option also based on whether locally available for example.
In 2017 I built&priced some #SRTVipers & some #LandRoverRangerRoverSportLR94SVR & their prices were very similar, in Canada at least & they had a very similar top price (cad ) in the $160k range. . I may add later to this.

I have a hard time believing the Macan outpaces the Cayenne for price increase. A base Cayenne is $67. 5K US. A base Cayenne Turbo S e-Hybrid is $163. 2K US. Start adding options, and you can nearly TRIPLE the price of a base Cayenne! Or do you not consider upper models as just trim levels in the UK?
A Mustang Ecoboost starts at $27K US. A Mustang GT500 with all the options (few they may be) is $105K US. Nearly FOUR TIMES as much.

In Germany you can nearly double the price of a BMW 3-Series. Here the 318d starts at 37700-. With all extras you can buy it for 73700-. Thats 95% more as for the basic 3-Series. Or if you want something bigger: The Mercedes GLE 350d starts with 71900-. With all extras you can buy it for 144900-. Thats 101% more as for the basic GLE.

In the US, you can get a base Dodge Charger with around 300 hp for $30K USD. If you want the 800 hp model, you are around $90k USD. Similar prices for the Dodge Challenger. Ford Mustangs are in the same league. $30k USD for the base 4-cyclinder 310 hp model. The 760 hp GT500 is around $90-100k.

One good thing about Tesla is that basically you get it all with what you pay for. Of course, FSD is too pricey at about $10k and Tesla doesn-t have the best fit and finish or cool quirks like ventilated seats, but a lot of guesswork is taken out of buying from them.

Of course, someone looking for all the extras won't be buying the base level model - Let's have a second edition showing the comparative price of these cars when you start at a higher trim level & bring those to the same spec.

Curious if you were to start with a higher spec-d car that maybe comes with some options standard and then add the missing ones if it would be cheaper? Or if you would get more for slightly more?

I've seen way too many people fitted panoramic glass roof and Miami Blue and roof rails all on to their base Macans. These 3 pointless stuff (relative to a base Macan) already make up over 10% of the car's list price.
