BMW iX 50 v BMW X7 M50i: DRAG RACE Kevin: I didn-t read all the replies to see if this was said, but the reason that most electric cars have a relatively low top speed is that most of them only have one gear. They are limited to that top speed due to the maximum speed of the motors. They have to choose a gear ratio that is a compromise between good acceleration at lower speeds, good efficiency and decent top speed. Most EVs that can go over 100mph are spinning their electric motors in excess of 10, 000 rpm (I think Teslas are spinning at almost 15, 000rpm at their 140mph top speed. The only EVs I can think of that have more than one gear are the Porsche Taycan and the Audi eTron GT (same basic drivetrain.

I would like to see a drag race after the climate activists have deflated the SUV tyres. I never got the appeal of SUVs for on-road driving, unless you need a 7 seater for a big family. -carwow can we add a race with some corners please? A timed lap around a circuit perhaps, which would make for more exciting videos and interesting comparisons between cars/SUVs. Performed by non-race drivers, to better represent the average driver.

Love the videos. No doubt this proves that BMW iX is the ugliest new car on the road at the moment. With these videos, could you please give the 0-62mph time. In Aus, this figure (actually 0-100km/h) as with dinky 110km/h maximum speed limits we have, is the most important one to us.

This morning for the first time i saw the iX on the south African road called N12 and wanted to take a pic but that thing is very fast-funny i only downloaded this video last night--. i still go for the 7 but the iX does have beemer qualities

Matt please just learn once for all that the braking distance has nothing to do with the brake's dimensions or regen etc.
It only depends on tyres (contact patch dimensions, material, ABS calibration and aero in higher speeds.

That ix is pretty quick. Let-s hope car mechanics will able to kill the limiters. And on the everyday road you will not drive 250kmp all day or every day. Only in Germany. I do love the design on the x7.

The iX is limited to 125 miles an hour for two reasons I suspect. A. Batteries start to over heat at round the 130 mark, and B. It-s. uh. not the most aerodynamic shapes -

Nice content! Very educating from beginning to the end, however business and investment opportunities are the best way to make money irrespective of your status and location

I wonder if the 124/125 mph thing is conversion from 200 kph which is just over 124 mph. That doesn't explain its existence though - like the 155 mph for petrol cars?

We want an X5 vs iX drag race. They are similarly sized.
X5 M Competition vs iX 50
And when the iX M60 is released:
