Porsche 911 Turbo S v Suzuki Hayabusa: DRAG RACE

It's time for a supercar vs superbike DRAG RACE! Mat's lining up in his Porsche 911 Turbo S, and he's about to face off against a Suzuki Hayabusa! So let's see how they compare. Starting with the Porsche, it's powered by a 3. 8-litre twin-turbo flat-six that can produce 650hp & 800Nm of torque. It's a bit heavy, weighing in at 1, 640kg. Naturally, the bike is a whole lot lighter - it tips the scales at just 264kg! It's powered by a 1340cc 4 cylinder, which is good for around 190hp. So of course, it's down on power, but it is SO much lighter!

The stats on the current 911 Turbo S are crazy. Autocar magazine have a test drive article on the car this week. The acceleration figures they recorded were seriously impressive. Extract from the article The through-the-gears sprint from 30-70mph takes just 2. 0sec three-tenths less than even a Lamborghini Aventador SVJ manages and seven-tenths quicker than the Porsche 911 GT3. Standout examples of in-gear pace include 40-60mph in second gear at 1. 0sec and 60-80mph in third gear at 1. 5sec. And, to demonstrate that the car s acceleration does not simply tail off once you re into triple figures, 100-120mph in fourth gear takes 2. 3sec. In fact, in taking 11. 2sec to reach 140mph, the Turbo S proved precisely as quick as the 14bhp-less-powerful but 502kg-lighter McLaren F1 did back in May 1994. What a machine!

Red cars are always faster! Ask any Ferrari owner. Bikes too, witness the number of Ducati wins in World Superbikes. Just watch them on the long straights, they monster everything else. True!
Seriously though standing start drag racing abuses cars, rolling acceleration is a much more real world test, such as the 30 to 70 mph or even the 5 to 90 mph sprint which demonstrates a cars ability to overtake (safely.

I mean, yea. Pretty much expected. The porsche pulls off faster because it has more then 4 times the contact surface area to the ground (and it doesnt have to keep wheelieng in mind lol) but the busa takes off because of the weight difference and sleeker aerodynamics. Same story with the braking test (tyre contact area wise.

You can go to Tesco's and put your weekly shop in the boot, sit inside in comfort with the aircon on and listen to sweet music in peace. Yet right after still burn off the numb arsed sweating middle aged guy with a paunch wearing a gimp suit at the traffic lights next to you. Car wins.

Just 0. 1 second beating. Porsche has 4 large tyres compared to couple of inches on ground for bike. Braking: 4 huge pots per wheel compared to 3 discs & 1 wheel for bike, cost difference abominable for performance difference. Bike overall winner.

TurboS has grown on me over the years to the point is now my hero car. The bike looks very high tech though I'm not really a bike guy but does looks like alot fun to have on it. (Hope to see more tuned Turbo S in the future)

Saw pedro do a launch on a motogp bike do a much better launch than this guy. did you ever watch it? Pedro laying over his tank, one leg back to keep the nose down. maybe you can drive a great lap, bit your launches are crap.

you probably wont read this, but on my mercedes if i roll slowly in neutral the rev limiter disables and let me rev it out, so i just give it a nudge in drive then pop it in neutral and i can redline, you should try that

Great race, that Porsche is amazing off the line, the busa is an old heavy bike nowadays, a legend when it first came out but compared to a Ducati v4 panigale 60kg's heavier which alot on a bike.
reply

Don t almost all dct have the feature if you pull in both paddles you can free rev like pushing in the clutch on a manual car? I know the C8 can and I m pretty sure most other cars can too.
reply

Hayabusa is still quick, but behind S1000RR and V4S etc. No bike is going to get close on braking performance though - even more pronounced when braking whilst in any kind of bend.
reply

Motorcycles really fast then you see how terrible the braking is, that's crazy. Sure seeing bikes flying down the public interstate in triple digits that take forever to stop. WOW
reply

everytime you race Porsche 911 Turbo S it could be this same car 911 HUL. everytime I see this car it looks neat and clean. whoever owns this car knows how to keep it clean
