The most reliable cars REVEALED!

We brought you our list of most unreliable cars, so now it's time to uncover the most reliable cars! That's right, we've teamed up with Warrantywise again to find out which car is the best for you to choose if you're in the market for a new set of wheels. One thing to consider though, just like with the least reliable cars, these are mostly older generation motors that saw their manufacturer warranty run out. Either way, are you surprised by any cars on this list? Let us know in the COMMENTS! . Retired: It's quite simple really. The expensive unreliable cars are produced in small numbers, the cheap reliable ones mostly in high volumes. High volumes allow you to amortise the R&D more easily and fix the problems.
It's why sensible companies like Tesla and Apple produce few models, while BMW throw vast numbers of variants at the wall to see what sticks, and immediately you have potential problems.
Add to this relatively low power engines with less risk of heat buildup (which kills a lot of BMWs and AMGs in the hotter US states, both mechanical and electric).
It's why a Mercedes taxi churned out in large numbers with a relatively low power engine goes on forever, because in that market cost of ownership sells like nothing else.

We expect expensive cars like BMW or Mercedes not to be on there because the repair bills are higher even if the probability of failure is the same. But it s unfortunate that no Skodas, Seats or VWs make the list, and probably a consequence of the VW group s tendency to use complicated and over-engineered solutions (see triple clutch hybrid auto gearboxes, W8 engines, supercharged engines with dog clutches etc) French cars are represented though, and even a Fiat is on there. So that particular stereotype is untrue.

unpopular opinion: there are no unreliable cars, you just have to take good care of your car
because bro i have a 2006 renault clio mark2, my father owned it for 14 years and we never had a problem and now he gave it to me and i owned it for 2 years and it still is reliable, i didn't have any problems ( also my uncle owned a yugo and told me it's one of the best cars i've ever driven, it's cheap, reliable, and it doesn't break quite funny to hear that when americans talk shit about the yugo lol

i currently own a previous generation of the honda civic sport plus from 2019. I ve had the car since it was brand new with 0 km. 80. 000 km later and the car never had an issue besides the air conditioning. they said it was a factory defect so they replaced it under warranty. the only downside was waiting for almost a month for the part to come. Besides everything is wonderful. I highly recommend it. cheap car with very good looks and some nice features and decent power.

People talk about french cars are shite but then I know so many people with pugs and all are faultless really. I own 14 years old 308 GT 2l HDI with 141k on clock and it's absolutely faultless running sweet as daily. Then I have 308 Gti BPS for 5th year not a single issue and it's been tuned/ modified over 4. Can't fault Peugeot one bit it's been very reliable. My next one will be pug again. Then people think about Merc, Audi, BMW They're reliable but They're nightmare.

Not surprised to see the Mazda 2 so high up. I run a 2018 skyactiv-g sport model as a daily. Looks great, drives very sweetly and has been faultless in the three and a half years I've had it. Owned many different cars - and driven many more - but would recommend the 2 anyday. It's fun to chuck about yet refined when you need it to be. In a world of Corsa's and Polo's the Mazda 2 is a breath of fresh air.

The moment I see a Fiat on the list I immediately knew this real world data provided by WarrantyWise isn't representative of the REAL world, did they ever not compare how many that needs servicing vs how much of that model sold? Or are they just be like hmm, this car has the lowest number hence it's the most reliable without comparing it to the amount sold?

2008 Honda Jazz 1st gen 1. 2 i-dsi engine 200. 000km most of them in the city or short trips. Clutch is still the original one and doesn't slip at all, it's rock sold as the entire car. I've only done oil changes and filters replacement and 2 times replaced the spark plugs (one at 100k km and the other one at 150k km. Just Honda being Honda.

Got the jazz hybrid. Love it. Turns on a pinhead, 800+ km to a (small) fill. 500 aftermarket android auto stereo and I'm set.
Recently borrowed a tesla 3. think I prefer the jazz. It's very hard to go back once you're used to being able to U turn on a one lane bridge.
(OK maybe a three point in that context)

I had a 2006 MX5, the first year of the NC design. In 5 years of cross-continent drives to take on challenging roads, track days, and of course my daily commute the only part that broke was an aftermarket sway bar that I installed myself. I did buy my fair share of tires and racy brake pads though. I miss that car

It'd be interesting to weight these results by mileage. I think the results are skewed as it's no surprise that cars with low mileage (i. e. runarounds) appear to be more reliable than cars that have high mileage (i. e. commuters. how about looking into 'Real World Reliability' Matt Watson.

Quick summary of the video: Almost all of toyota's line up.
ps: The honda jazz is a DOG! I seen them run 500. 000km and the owners being older people that couldn't care less about their cars. all of them with scratches too. I wouldn't park next to one but I would surely buy one.

reply

The only cars I would recommend to people are Honda s, yes the air conditioning can be unreliable but they always start and don t break down and the original parts on them last for ages, if the engines are serviced regularly you can see 200, 000 miles easy

The cost of the repairs shouldn't be taken into account when making a most (or less) reliable cars list, just the number of repairs that had to be made and their frequency. Period.
Otherwise this should be titled, the cheapest and easiest cars to repair
