Safety is for cowards. What you need is a poorly maintained bicycle, no lights and definitely no helmet, insurance or any of that nonsense. Ride with phone on ear, ignore the traffic lights they have for cars, optionally consider riding on the left. What could possibly go wrong?
I don't want to die in a tin box, crushed by cup holders and seventeen speaker hi fi systems, with a bloated body riddled by diabetes at the mercy of computers with an internal combustion engine on my lap, having not paid for the car yet, in a pool of flammable liquids.
God gave us eyes, ears and skulls that offer perfect protection. Tin boxes for trashing the planet with are an insult to the Lord.

In my country, there have been quite a few high profile crashes lately and what I've observed is that the more expensive your car, the higher chance you will walk unscathed. For example, a drunk driver with a Q7 killed a couple of girls and smashed the car into a building at 150 km/h. He and the 3 passengers got out and walked unscathed. Can't say the same for the girls tho. Also, in front of my eyes a Panamera hit a rent-a-car at about the same speed. The driver was unscathed, but he killed both passengers in the rented hatchback. So yeah, luxury brands seem to be worth it, at least concerning driver and passenger safety.

The Alfa Romeo Giulia, and not many people know this, is still the only car that got 98% (And the Stelvio got 97%, same as the model Y. If you have watched Jeremy Clarkson's clip on the Grand Tour, you'll remember him saying the B pillar is too far forward making a bit difficult to get in and out of the car if you're not slim. That's not a mistake. Moving the B pillar a few inches forward made the Giulia the safest car ever, at least for its driver. Part of the merits, of course, go the body's structural rigidity that also helps with handling.

Old hat now these test because as we all know every manufacturer is sharing body shells
So if you drive a Kia Volvo Hyundai etc it s a ford
And the list goes on
So obviously the safety aspect across the board is pretty much the same.
People get deluded by these tests and think nothing will happen to them
That is till a HGV hits you
And then all tests are null and void
So just drive safe if you can

I read some in depth reviews last spring on the safety of the Model Y and one of the surprising problems was that the automatic emergency braking only slowed the car to around 15 km/h speed. I presume these problems have been fixed with over the air updates, but I'd like to see more thorough safety testing in unfavourable conditions to the safety systems e. g. when some sensors are partially covered by snow.

Interesting between the front passengers airbag deploying shortly after 6: 20
My only concern not covered here is rollover likelihood, as many of the SUV style vehicles appear more susceptible to this compared with more traditional cars. One of our friends sons is a firefighter, and he always says SUV stands for some upside-down vehicle as at many accidents that s how he tends to find them.

Pffft. This is why cars suck nowadays. Ours has a slightly better airbag! 1 All cars nowadays are safe, and no one will save you if you crash 90km/h in a frontal crash.
Wish companies focused on doing proper cars, this feels like more like public transport.

As a fireman having to do lots of RTC crashes every car when impacted should unlock all of the doors. If your driving a car with automatic lock on please turn it off, takes 1 seconds to open a door can take upto 15 minutes to break open a door.

It's good to see these test results, however, it would be pretty neat to also test these cars for false positives where they engage their safety systems without any reason. that would likely change some of the scores.

It would be nice to see how safe cars like VW Polo, Renault Clio, Dacia Sandero, Peugeot 208, Ford Fiesta and similars are performing in the safety tests. I mean, cars that most of the people can actually buy.

But but but. The media tells me Tesla s are so dangerous? It s almost like Tesla doesn t pay for advertisements so the media paints a bad picture of them. I sure hope the media wouldn t be driven by money.

Fun fact:
the seatbelt was invented by Volvo themselves. And they allow other manufactures to have them for free
If they were to put them with cost, Volvo would be the most richest manufacturer ever

Some people say they would not buy a Tesla because of its styling. If they appreciated how much aero and safety benefits come from its surface design they might see it in a different light.

Strange xc60 has higher scores on ncap site than xc40, a lot higher for Protection of pedestrian and safety systems and higher on adult protection and same as xc60 on child protection.
