He s got his hands on what he believes to be the four best iterations of the Porsche 911, and he s going to drive each of them on a 500-mile journey from Lyon all the way to Monaco to find out which takes the crown as the ultimate 911! So let s look at what he ll be driving, starting with the 911 Turbo S! We already know the Turbo packs a punch, as its 3. 8-litre twin-turbo flat-six has taken down SO many competitors on the carwow drag strip. But take a step inside and despite being a true powerhouse, the 911 Turo is still so luxurious and comfortable. The version we have here is covered in leather and comes with super comfortable sports seats, and even though he s set to encounter some twisty mountain roads on this route, it s more than capable of handling these sorts of conditions. After the Turbo Mat will be jumping into the Dakar. It s based on the 911 GTS, so it comes with a 3-litre twin-turbo flat-six that can produce 480hp and 570Nm. So of course it s a bit down on power, but it comes with a whole load of modifications to make it really stand out. However, given it s really built for off-roading, will it offer any sort of competition to the power and performance of the 911 Turbo when it comes to driving it on tarmac? Following this we have the Carrera T. It comes with the same 3-litre-twin turbo flat-six as the Dakar, but in this instance, it can only put down 385hp and 450Nm of torque. What s more, it s fitted with a 7-speed manual! It s the cheapest car Mat will drive on this trip, with the price tag coming in at 106, 000 - 9, 000 more than the standard Carrera. So it comes with the standard Porsche look and feel on the inside, and it s also super light, with the rear seats stripped out to really help enhance enjoyment on these twisty mountain roads. Then finally we have the daddy - the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS! It comes with a glorious 4-litre naturally-aspirated flat-six that can produce 525hp and 465Nm of torque. It weighs in at just 1, 450kg, and you can imagine that it sounds absolutely epic when it s running through the numerous mountain tunnels on this drive. The question is, can any of the other cars really compete with the new GT3 RS! Or will it just enhance its name even more and prove to be the ultimate 911? You ll need to stick with Mat and see for yourself!

He wouldn't know what the best four iterations of a Porsche were. For example everyone with even the smallest brain knows the Dakar is an irrelevant lifestyle car, the T is marketing over substance, the Turbo S is irrelevant since the advent of EVs and the new RS doesn't have a frunk making it useless for the weekend track warrior. The T is particularly bad, the last version of this you couldn't give away, people bought them because they were told it was a GT3 lite, it isn't, nothing like, these people sold them quick. The rest buy them because they're cheap and without RAS they're hopeless round a track.

The 911 3 RS 992 is the greatest Porsche ever built not the 911 ST. I said it before I will say it again. Just like Ferrari the F40 is not the greatest Ferrari ever built it the Pista. Lamborghini greatest ever built is the Huracan STO not Countach.

Man I don t know but the Turbo S is just something else. How on earth, in the wet, with 650hp, it did 2. 87 seconds to 60? And as mat mentioned, it s good in the wet but also has good performance. AND IT CAN BE DAILY DRIVEN? TAKE MY MONEY!

Overpriced beetles, worst possible weight distribution, 3 turbos that sound horrible with zero throttle response and the RS has too little displacement/torque to give you that punch sounding like it's gonna disintergate any second.

that guy in Passat is probably from Balkan. Balkan people simply love VW, and also if you overtake us, we will gap you in no moment, eventho if you got 20 year newer car with 500+ hp more, we will be following you.

My favorite color on 992 Carrera, S, 4S, Turbo and Turbo S. My 21 992 4S is in Aventurine Green Metalic, I absolutely love the color, color shifting green to grey depending upon the lighting conditions.

The RS is a weapon. You just know Porsche is working on a GT2 RS that will be a bonkers, track record setter.
All my life I've lusted after the Turbo S, for me, nothing's changed.

Men. This is what life is supposed to be about. No stress living life to the fullest. Put the video games down and go win. And never stress a woman. Life is beautiful but short.

Why does everyone in the comments say they are Mat Watson when they are obviously not. Then, they get the most likes. I promise you this comment won't get more than 1k likes.

This 911 Porsche Road Trip is simply amazing! Next can you do a road trip featuring McLaren Supercars like MP4-12C, McLaren F1 LM and McLaren MP4/4 around New York?

you need a daily car, but then you need a daily for the daily, and then you need a daily for the daily's daily, and then you need a daily for the daily's daily daily

carwow you should do a Porsche cayenne turbo gt vs Lamborghini urus performante vs Ferrari purosangue vs lotus eletre comparison for the best super/hyper SUV

The 911 turbo S would be perfect IF the rear window opened like the McLaren 570 GT then you do not have to break your back putting in hand luggage.

I'm the guy who was driving the Passat and if I didn't have a 200pound dog at the back, I would have humiliated you mate.

Carwow should definitely do these in the future. I would like to see one with Yianni if possible

Dakar is the best all around car. Good on the track, streets, and off road. If i had the money id buy Dakar over any other car.

I was staying in that same hotel when you went there I m guessing the gt3 rs was properly illuminated during the fete de lumieres

As a manual 992 T owner, I agree - and the only thing that could pry my car away from me is a GT3 Touring or GT3RS allocation.
