I'm in an automotive class and my automotive teacher who has 50+ years of experience told me the best oil you can get about anywhere is Castrol and the best filters you can get are wix. Also, avoid getting fram oil filters. Any filter is better than none, however, how good an oil filter is depends on the amount of creases in the filter paper. Fram filters have the least amount of creases compared to wix filters. So to get the most out of your oil, use quality filters and oil for your car or truck. Oil is the life and blood of your vehicle so I always use the best oil and filters. I would like to see what you think about this Chris but spot on with the video

Chris Im just curious what are regarded as the best oil brands in America. Amsoil?
Im from England so we learn more to liqui moly and mobil
Also with regards to the oil filters.
Do you rather the original or the K&N or amsoil etc.
over here rule #1 us With a synthetic oil you go with the higher end filters
I mean not that anything is wrong with fram sakura and purolator
I think its with regard to drainage
But Im very interested with your videos and the American perspective.
Thanks man and keep up the great content

Quick tip: sorry if it was already mentioned below. When removing the old oil filter, make sure the rubber O ring of the old filter is removed with the old filter. And be sure to check that the new filter has a new rubber O ring. I remember to do this all the time, since way back in 1983 when my dad did not check this, we were spraying oil down the street after a oil change. This tip has stuck with me since then and it's the first thing I check when I remove the old filter.

Just note for those new to changing your own oil. if you have an older car that doesn't leak oil and you start running a synthetic oil you might find you are suddenly having an oil leak. If so go back to using non synthetic.

Hello Chris, you do a great job. Would need your advice too please. Have just drain the oil but it seems like the oil stick hole is still full, nearly triple that the max line on the stick. Is a Honda Civic if that meter

How do you go about removing the oil filter if it is on the top of the engine without making a huge mess? Also is it alright in that situation to not prefill the filter since it seems impossible?

In my 03 ford f150 I don't change oil every time it requires it just change filter only drain the oil once a yr or twice if it's been doing a lot of grunt work n hasn't been a issue for 7 yrs now

I saw people where they screw 2x4 woods about 6 to 8 inches long as extra support for the jack stands, which seems to be a good idea since it's solid and will not slip.

Hello Chris, this might be a dumb question but what oil would my 1979 Monte Carlo take? It's a 305 and I don't have owners manual and oil cap doesn't say what kind

I just needed to know how to jump my car. Then ended up watching 4 other unrelated car maintenance videos and now I'm here. Cool video though, good to know!
