Fantastic tips. I knew a few, but not some of the better tips. Here's another. Check the glove compartment for stickers and the owner's manual jacket for stickers or permanent white or black number codes. Rental agencies add these to their fleet vehicles. A great looking, moderate mileage car could have been a fleet vehicle which are known for not being maintained well and being abused by renters.

That was kinda bad advice about the blown head gasket, sometimes in the cold weather a frothy white oil like a milkshake will form on the oil cap and top of valve covers. This does not necessarily mean you blew a head gasket. That advice alone could prevent you from making the best purchase of your life and the seller making the worst decision ever.

4: 16 - That's not a frame cross member, that is the bumper absorption beam. It is meant to bend like that upon impact and should not affect the frame unless the impact is severe (at which point you'll have more than just that beam pushed inward. They can be replaced with relative ease.

Honestly bro, for a car with 130k this is a pretty damn nice car for its condition and year, my first car was an 08 Impreza and that car had 120k on it and it had issues with the engine and transmission, along with other expensive repairs I would have had to do, glad I got rid of it.

Im kinda surprised that after you found that p1000 code that you didnt see a readiness or drive cycle test for the systems. Did you kinda already know what shape that car would be in? Or did it not matter much here?
Good info btw. I am genuinely curious.

another 2 ways to check if the engine burns oil: 1st oily exhaust(pretty easy to tell) 2nd: drive the car downhill for a while in gear without touching the gas pedal, then pull over and rev it as hard as the limiter allows, if it smokes, it burns.

One of the easiest things to check. Pop off the oil fill cap and give it look and a sniff. If its caked with burned oil and/or smells burned. Don't buy. A car that's been well maintained, won't smell like burned oil.

The most expensive parts of the car are the engine, clutch, and gearbox.
But the air conditioning could be expensive too if you replace a newer one.
For me, a car is more expensive to get married.

In my opinion, buy a used car and fix it for about half of the money you paid. sometimes we need to pay double if we buy an attractive truck. that is a therapeutic shop.
