There's something so satisfying when the solder wicks through or around your parts and towards your heat source. Then you know you have a perfect joint.
That dielectric grease before the shrink tubing. then watching it squeeze out. Damn I can't wait to try that one! That's definitely a great idea! Thank you: ) My biggest problem is getting all done with soldering and realizing I forgot to put the shrink tubing on. Then I have to start all over. One time I did that and didn't have enough wire to fix it. so I had to use a mile of electrical tape. That sucked! But it's been quite a few years since I did that so I guess I messed that up enough times that I finally learned!

I want to ask a question, great video as always but why do Americans pronounce 'solder' as 'sodder', the 'L' isn't silent, and if you think it is, how do you pronounce the word 'Sold'. do you say I 'sod' a car today? lol
I'm only being a bit pedantic about it but I'm also genuinely curious if there is a reason why this has come about, any Americans who can tell me cos it makes me smile every time I hear one of you guys talking about 'soLdering' something lol
By the way I'm very jealous of anyone with steady enough hands to solder properly, my hands shake so badly that let's just say if you see me going to try and diffuse a bomb then make use of the head start!

Chris Fixer, thank you for this video. I needed to know this valuable and quality information on soldering. I just bought a soldering iron and needed to learn how to properly solder wires and get a good introduction into this topic. I had no idea what the sponge was for in my kit I bought, but now I know. I now know there are soldering guns and irons. Thank you!

Great video, but, Soder? Rosin? Are you guys just making up words? Its Solder, as in Sold and Resin. I wonder how Americans decided to spell and pronounce words differently.
This comment isnt having a go at Americans, Im honestly interested in how they came to rename, pronounce and even spell differently.

Thank you for this video, I looked for a video like this 11 years ago and only found useless things, that didn't explain anything, youtube has gone a long way, I appreciate you explaining everything, feeling more confident to tackle some projects I've had in mind.

Honestly brother, I cannot thank you enough for this video training. You should be a teacher! I have never been able to solder well before this video. And I will spend hundreds of dollars paying others to do work that I can now do.

Have been doing this for 45 years and certified through the military and NASA. You never want to disturb the natural lay of the wires. ever! Always tin first then connect the wires.

I bought a 91 Miata from a buddy and he has the headlight ripped out to where I had to get a new connector and solder the wires. This helped extremely
