I use both the tape and the clamp on a pipe leak. The problem with most leaks is they are always at the welds or a curved area. My 04 Quest has a bad flex joint. That cannot be fixed using anything. The joint has to be removed and a whole new part installed. I had an 04 Trailblazer whose exaust outlasted the truck. At 244k, the Transmission died. I had it rebuilt only to have it die again 3k miles later. I ended up selling it for scrap.

Hey Chris, random question. On my exhaust there small sections that are rubber covered in a metal mesh. But over time the metal has rubbed off and the rubber has burned straight through. Would tape work? Or a different method? Because I would prefer to spend a couple bucks at autozone then buy a new y pipe for my car. Thanks!

I love your videos but this is the worst I ever seen from you. Yeah it looks easy and cheap as beeb, but why didn't you also show how to do it right from the beginning and take the manifold of and change the gasket? And of course also show how hard or easy it is to take of the putty you've put on there.

Just replaced the stock headers in my GT86 and wanted to see if there was a way to check for leaks besides sniffing around the hot exhaust. I've already got a shop vac, some soapy wooder, and nitrile gloves so I'll definitely be trying this out once the system cools down!

Ok Chris I tried to find what I would assume is an exhaust leak.
My issue is I have fumes in the cabin. I have a 2012 Cruise manual trans. The piping appears to be solid, no bubbles. I used an air compressor on the cold engine.
What is your recommendation?

Chris why did you cut your truck really fine exaust pipe? you just could get a pipe same diameter as the exaust pipe, thet show us how it works, then block one end of the pipe, in the other sideuse a blower and you can test if there's leaks.

I wish they had these products 30 years ago when I had a cracked exhaust pipe. Nothing available would last more than a couple weeks and a new pipe was 600. Too expensive for a college kid.
