5: 54 But but, if the tires are rated at 30 PSI COLD for cold heavy winter air shouldn't you inflate to a higher psi with the lighter rarefied summer air? After all the PV=nRT ideal gas law equation shows us that P (Pressure) is directly proportional to n (the number of moles of gas) and thus if you have a denser gas with cold air and thus more moles per unit volume you would have more pressure if you put in the more widely spaced hot air? Maybe you need a part two for this in the next month or so and a chemical engineer to more deeply explain the math and thermophysical properties behind this annual phenomenon. But makes sense after I've read a few sites saying to check the tire pressure after extreme weather changes. Would this be cheaper than the nitrogen gas tire fill? Thanks

When I first moved to Pittsburgh my tires were filled with Summer Air from Florida. Came out one day to the cold day, the first snow, it was beautiful! Jumped in the car, and my Summer Air ran flat in the tires! Tire Pressure Monitor was on for all four corners of the car. All four tires were down to 20 PSI. Summer Air, since it isn't as dense, winds up not being resilient to cold. I was able to drive slowly to a gas station that fortunately was in the north, and filled up my tires with the proper dense Winter Air. Oh and the windshield wiper fluid also froze. They don't sell the -20 degree fluid in Florida.

So I have essentially no car maintenance experience, but I did take four years of chemistry in college, and around the point Engineering Explained said that based on his 75 years of experience that Summer air was an ideal gas but Winter air wasn't, I was like, would that make any difference in compressibility? Whenever someone is encouraging me to go to a mechanic or auto supply store and ask for something I've never heard of before, I am suspicious lol.
Kind of incredible the amount of time you must have put into those labels.

I laugh out when Jason speaks for himself about his experience and proves it by his hair color! I knew what it refers to, I just knew it; )
Though today not the April fool when I look back on this video really like how you guys playing the fool in a serious manner!

A choke hazard safety warning to not swallow the valve stem dust cap should be included. Claims 1, 000's of innocent lives a year. Summer/winter air changes can be deadly. A million dollar govt study should be done and cap tethers made mandatory to save lives!

Hey Chris, I do not have stock size tires. do we still use the stock PSI rate or go by the Max PSI thats on the tires? I have 35 tires on my 2017 Sequoia. Thanks for all your help and all your vids! PS: Best April Fools joke ever! Hahaaa

Thanks for the video! I always have 1 bottle of Winter air and 1 bottle of Water air in my car. When I go on a holiday skiing or when the winter sun is burning, its too dangerous to leave the normal air in the tires.

Just be sure you don't get ripped off by paying a premium price for pure nitrogen fill. I always buy the 70% NITROGEN BLEND AIR and save money. (Like synthetic blend oil)

A year later I watch this video again and realized it was a joke but I got charged 20 bucks to put winter air in my tires. Thank you Chris for making me look like an idiot.
