2600 vinyl wrap vs 500 DIY Plasti dip kit. Is the wrap worth the cost? We bought two identical 350Zs and have been modifying them to be FUN, daily drivers that you can take to the track. James Pumphrey and Zach Jobe are on Team Hi, and their car gets the expensive parts. Nolan Sykes and Aaron Parker are on team Low. Their car gets the cheap ones. Then we test them to see which components are actually worth spending the money on. If you want to paint or change the color of your car, you basically have three options- A traditional paint job, a vinyl wrap, or plastidip. The gloss of a paint job is intoxicating, but a perfect paint job like that is not only ridonkulously expensive, but it takes forever. There is so much prep work involved with a paint job like So Hi Team is taking the happy medium route: they're getting Hi Car professionally vinyl wrapped. 2600 bucks. A quality wrap job is the best of every world. Hardly any prep work. It only takes a few days to get one done, though if youre doing it yourself, put your patience-pants on. It protects your paint --if its worth protecting, its totally reversible --for when you change your mind, and you can have any sort of graphic screen printed onto a vinyl wrap. Team Low will be plastidipping their car by hand. Plasti dip offers many of the same benefits as vinyl-wrapping, but for a fraction of the price. We bought this plasti dip kit from dip your car for 500. It is California compliant, so that might make it worse. But on the bright side, it is relatively easy to do yourself (or so Nolan thought, theres very little prep work, its totally reversible, and its easy to fix damage or mistakes. The only downsides are that its never going to look like a great paint job, its not that durable, and Team Low has to do it themselves

Come on guys. Even after responding to Fonzie at DipYourCar you couldn't have put a disclaimer at the beginning of the video saying that it was mostly user error? I've dipped a car twice with one extra person for help and it came out great both times (90% of the quality of a wrap. Tbh if I would have seen this video before dipping my own car I would have never tried it in the first place, so it feels bad to think people will instantly write it off as a bad product because of stuff like this.

Sorry nolan, but your application needs a little work. With dip you gotta do very light layers and as many coats as possible. But I would have recommended orange dip, then used a clear coat dip that comes with a bit of gold glitter in it. Might sound dumb but it turns out almost as nice as a wrap. The clear coat dip works wonders on any dip job.

Dudes what are your thoughts on a g37? I got a g37, I'll make a video on what I did on the past but I basically removed the resonator and mufflers but it sounded so loud I out everything back now I'm wondering is not what I expected oh I need to buy an actual exhaust gu which I found one from OBX for 800. What are you guys thoughts on this

Love the series but this episode doesn't serve justice to hi vs low because that was clearly user error. You can easily paint on the cheap if you dedicate some time. In my teen yrs I painted my 240sx with tremclad in a spray gun w/compressor and you would have never guessed it was cheap tremclad. Poor execution shown here

Dunno if this is really fair -- it's not about the materials (Plasti-dip vs Vinyl, but what you paid for installation. You could pay 535 for plastidip and be amazing at applying it (see Dipyourcar, or pay a lot for vinyl material and be crappy at applying it.

Plasti dip really deserves to get wiped off the planet honestly very rarely people do it right and when you dont do it right its way worse than what you think. Just have the balls to put real paint on because its a hundred times easier

Love you guys but, that was a awful way to apply plastic dip. Why did you mix it. Also, why 10 year old plastic dip. This makes plastic dip look like a bad choice when its not. P. S. I dont like to plastic dip my cars.

Should have had Fonzi from DipYourCar as a guest host this episode. He would have made the Plasti Dip look better than the wrap. He's actually done a video about these Donut Media's mistakes last time they used Plasti Dip

But seriously what is cheaper painting or wrapping a car a solid OEM, color I got a Acura TL and its nighthawk black, but its seriously faded and Im not a fan of black and Id love to make it the factory grey color

Your supposed to sand the clear coat off for the dip to stick and look good. Been doing auto painting for years and if you dont take the time to sand it down with a D-A then your wasting your time
