I always thought Radiator Springs was based off of Jerome Arizona, as it has a J above the town, has lots of broken down cars, and was bypassed by the highway.

Why don't they have more F1 or Fe drivers in cars? After all, NASCAR is national but F1 and Fe are international, with F1 being considered the pinnacle of Motorsport.
