i reeely enjoied this video. i learned alot about the quality rateing of tires in amarica. iv never noticed the quality letter rateing system in canada where i live. i know its hard to explain the contact patch of the tire without explaining susspension but it would be nice to encorporate how your susspension and your tires work together to keep the wieght of the vehicle near the center of the tire. ie if your offset or tire size drasticly changes it can effect the stoping distance and tire ware. if your contact patch is loading only on a small portion of the tire it can have drastic effects. however i dont know how to measure contact patch only that iv seen tire damage from changine the geometry of the tires in relation to the susspension. sorry about the spelling mistakes just can be hard to explain this consept of susspention and tires working together to achive best handelling and stop distance

Weird question that somehow no one has been able to answer for me. I got some new wheels and tires for my vehicle. They are quite a bit bigger but everything fits good and they drive alright. The only issue is that no matter how many times I torque the lugs down in the star pattern, if I continue the pattern over and over they still keep tightening meaning that they come loose. As I drive around on them my wheels instantly get loose and start to wobble a ton. Its not the balance either. Any idea what I need to look for? All I could find is that they came off a car with m14 studs and mine are m12

205 on an 8 rim? Youre stretching by 1. You missed that wheels are actually 1 wider and 1 taller than the advertised nominal size. An 8 wheel is 9 wide, therefore the 225 wouldve been the proper choice. The best tire fitment is when your tread is the same width as the actual outside physical measurement of the wheel. Look at literally any vehicle sold and professional racers, and that is how it is meant to be. When you buy a tire whos gross width is the same as the nominal, not gross, wheel width, youre stretching. Sorry not sorry.

The speed rating letters dont go from A to Z, and the ratings are not in alphanumeric order either. Theres only a few speed rating levels for passenger car tires. S and T rated are the lowest speed, typically found on really small tires like for 13 wheels and such. H is next, then V which is up to 149 mph. Historically Z meant anything above 149 with no set limit, but in the 90s the W and Y ratings were added with specific limits above 149. However both W and Y rated tires also have the ZR before the rim diameter number.

You forgot about balancing your wheels My father in law bought 4 tires and since he didnt have the car on him that the heels were meant for they never balanced them and he put them on himself and later that night his wheel front wheels were moving in different directions and crashed into a wall ( he is okay now) but just saying you should put that on there

Aluminium lug nuts are not that great. If you plan to take that wheel on and off a lot you'll find they cross thread easy and round off quickly, I recommend steel spline drive. they last much longer in daily driven modded cars. tire rotations, tire flips, brake work, suspension work you name it. Show cars can use Aluminium sense the main goal is looks.

Great video I have a question. I own a 1999 Mazda MX-5 1. 8 and looking into buying new wheels and tires. I live in Sweden and I found a good deal on OZ Ultralaggera 15x7 they are lightweight and for this should I go with 195 or 205 and should it be 45 or 50? I will lower my car soon with new coilovers about 20mm.

I would have loved to hear more about lug nuts. There are lots of companies making aluminum, or magnesium (really its AL-7075, lug nuts that are cheap but the. If I want to be buy steel lugnuts like my factory ones they are expensive and the factory ones generally dont work. Hoping for advice on this.
