Should be noted that you shouldn't upgrade your struts/springs if reducing body roll is your main concern. These coilovers reduced body roll a lot because of a few things: one, this car has a very short wheelbase, two, the springs are stiffer being linear and narrower coilover springs as opposed to the typical perch spring on a strut, and three, the entire body of the coilover if much shorter, so there's less up and down travel in the movement of the car, meaning less weight transfer to each side of the car. In a larger wheelbase car you'd notice fewer of these differences. Upgrading your sway bars and endlinks would be the first thing you'd want to do to counter body roll since that is literally what those components do. Suspension helps with pitch, dive, and squat. Also something to note: tightening up the damping and rebound of your shocks doesn't help with body roll either. Your shocks are not there to reduce body roll, once again. Your spring being tighter will help with that, so maybe mess with the preload and ride height settings to get whatever you're after there. Most coilovers also require revalving after 40-50K miles. Some will tell you that you're fine to go past that, but I follow what the owners manual tells me that comes with my suspension. Many cheaper coilovers cannot be revalved and would have to be replaced when worn out.

having the preload and ride height adjustment being separate means that you have less suspension travel. I guess if its a street car you can take the hit on performance, so you can change ride height, but on a track car, this is not something you want to look for. Also, I would almost always recommend lowering springs and matched shocks for someone who drives on the street over coilovers. Its a lot more price effective and will feel the same or better than the coilovers in that price rangeYou should also mention how lowering the car does affect stuff like bump steer and the suspension geometry, and its pretty easy to fix with some new tie rods or a steering rack spacerbody roll shouldn't be a factor in how the car handles, it just means that the suspension is doing its job.

The reason that the little collar sliders work on some cars is because they use (if theyre independent all the way around) is because they use a McPherson strut. The strut forgoes the upper control arm and the knuckle connects directly to the suspensions, and thus camber is more dependent on the angle of the suspension itself rather than the length and position differences of the wishbones in this miatas double wishbone

Why would I want Coilover instead of just a good set of lowering springs and a damper? I dont plan to adjust my ridehight any as I dont really se the point with the car in question. And as a good set of lowering springs and dampers cost quite a bit less then coils in the same class I wonder if there is any reason for me to pick the coils? :)

when you were doing the fender roll in the front, you could have unbolted the top bolts in the coil overs to drop the hub a bit. that's what I had to do with my 240. Also using a heat gun not only saves the paint from cracking(when you have good paint, unlike my car) but it wakes it easier to roll

I have a good story for this, So my sister has a 2004 Mitsubishi Eclipse, and when she bought it, the front of the car would bounce around every speed bumb and corner, we named it the boatmobile. Now it had a nice pair of coilovers, and it no longer bounces.

I'd love to throw coils on my car, but they literally do not make any for my car. 2010 Toyota Matrix XRS. I've heard some folks take Gen 1 Matrix Suspension or Celica coils and modifying them, but that's far beyond my skill and patience.

You should start a website for people who want to learn about cars by watching a video (maybe like the science garage ones) and then doing a quiz. You could maybe make it for kids who like cars and want to learn how they work etc. Keep it up

I needed to get an alignment done for quite a while now so I can't wait for the next video to come out. I know it should be a lot better to go to one of these smartass computer assisted shops but I just love to work on my car.

This series is just Science Garage, but with a project car attached to it so we can apply the Science that was learned in the Garage onto said project car. I ain't mad, though. Still gonna watch. Keep it up, boys.
