When McLaren and its lead designer, Gordon Murray, released it back in 1992 it shocked the automotive world with it unique design and race inspired functionality. The McLaren F1 was full of firsts, it used carbon fiber, space grade metals, it had a Formula One derived engine by BMW, and it had three seats! Three seats in a hypercar! And those are only a few of the incredible engineering features in the McLaren F1. Today we are going B2B on the car that managed to hold on to the title of fastest car in the world for TWELVE straight years, the McLaren F1. OfficeKing: Fun facts:
#1: A significant amount of parts on a F1 have a expiry date like e. g. the clutch (every 5k km, maintenance costs avg. about 40 k USD per year when you drive not more then 5 k km (even not driving it causes the same costs because of the expiry date)
#2: One tire costs around 6k but it need to be balanced ON the car, so you need a race track, a professional driver, a trained mechanic, paramedics on the track and a insurance = 40-80k
#3: a new factory paint job takes 6 months and around 280 k of your money

Sometimes the eggshell will have an invisible hairline crack, compromising its structural integrity. My mother in law at the time I discovered this fact was still finding bits of shell and yolk on the mantle, 2nd floor landing, ceiling, and walls a year later.

I have some suggestions for episodes that I would want to see.
1. Do a Wheelhouse where you compare f1, f2, and all the other formulas(maybe also Indycar.
2. Do an Up to speed on Reliant
3. Do a Dlist on best (I guess 10) RWD cars under 5k

McLaren F1- Don't need Turbos and have less Cylinders than a Buggati and goes to almost 300 Miles Per Hour, and you sit in the middle driver's seat.
P. S. Need For Speed High Stakes for PlayStation and Need For Speed 2 for PlayStation

I remember the cheat code on the original need for speed on the PC that made every car as fast as the McClaren F1. Being a 80's baby 90's kid this was the poster car for my generation. You guys make awesome content thank you.

Just to let everyone know Jaguar XJR-15 was the first road car to use a carbon fiber monocoque construction. It was designed by Peter Stevens, the same guys who drew the F1's exterior.

Back then when i was in my primary school years, when i said about THIS McLaren F1, most people would think of THE F1 car and not this. Unless they played Need For Speed II SE

Careful about comparing carbon fiber strength to steel. It's stronger than, say plain carbon steel (1018 or 1040) but 4140 has a greater tensile strength

The F1 weighs 500 pounds less than a Toyota Corolla and about the same weight as the subcompact, 106hp Toyota Yaris. Think about that.

I read the book. Got the hardcover with a young Hunter on the back. Very good read. Not as trippy as his other works.
