In the ford id say prolly the filter attached to the high pressure lines inspect for clogs or leaks and replace the power steering filter in the 4. 6 or you could just replace with some sort of bypass pipe. However you also should make sure your old fluid stayed fairly clean and doesnt have a bunch of dirt or rust or chunks in it because then obviously this might clog up or damage the system. Also Keep in mind most filters have some type of nipple usually bubble flares and try to remember one side of the hose will be fatter. For this you will need to take a piece of fuel/brake/copper line and cut it to the right length just enough to be able to stick in about an inch on each side and you cannot just use a straight piece why because it will blow right off and leak no matter how many clamps you put on it i know this all to well because i live in the northeast and most fluids in the winter turn to molasses and you certainly dont want to be replacing lines in the middle of the winter you will be cussing thats why you have to bubble flare each end keep in mind one end of the line will have to have a slightly bigger flare. Now you will want to stick one end of the piece of metal line you made in one end then find a couple small hose clamps say a 14 and 16 preferably high pressure ones and putt them over the pipe before you install the other end trust me makes it alot easier to get the clamps on tighten em down and you will be golden you should not need more then one clamp on each end

Saturn as a whole concept was an abortion IMO. Instead of developing better J cars(Cavalier, Sunbird, Sunfire, etc) GM sunk hundreds of millions of dollars in designing a completely different economy car(with its own dealer network) that competed with the J cars. The original small Saturn S-series, made from 1990 to 2002 had a completely different chassis, engines, transmissions, and interiors from anything else made by GM. Hell even the body panels werent steel, they were plastic. GM really had their heads up their asses back in the 1980s IMO, developing two entirely different cars that competed for the same buyers, so instead of spending lets say 500 million dollars making awesome J body cars, we spend 250 million making crap J body cars and 250 million on these new weird(but reliable) Saturns. It would be one thing if GM intended for the Saturn design to replace the J-body, but no they made them both side by side for their entire model run, competing with themselves.

I had a Saturn s2. The only thing that failed with regularity was the alternator that went out every 30, 000 miles or thereabouts. and they did it on the road. Once in the middle of nowhere in Ohio. Once in the middle of a very nasty neighborhood in Charlotte. It also ate a timing chain. Protested the failure at the dealer, and got it replaced for free. (It was supposed to last 100k miles. not 70, 000. Oh, and a catalytic converter. Saturn told me to go to a local muffler chain to have it replaced for 200 because their cost from GM was 800, and they would have to mark it up. The dealers were great in large part. but the cars did have their issues. (like the Dang Alternator failing repeatedly)

I owned a 2003 Saturn Ion with 4 cylinder, manual everything for 650 at 145K miles. I had to replace the fuel lines and ignition switch to get it running. Then it ran for years and needed only a battery and starter. That car ran like a dream and Id recommend one to anyone. Id happily buy another one so long as its a standard transmission. Those engines were pretty simple and had a timing chain. Bottom line 250-300 K miles if you take even fair care of it. The only reason Im not still driving one is because I totaled it in a car accident. Being such a light frame vehicle, thats both its high and low point. It has killer pickup and is great on gas, but suffers badly in an accident.

Scotty please help The hydraulic steering pump in my 81 Ford Taunus (similar to Falcon) is shaking a lot after tensing the belt. Belt was loose and pump support was not correctly tightened to the block of the engine, so I tightened those bolts and readjusted the belt. Pulley seems to be aligned ok. Engine is not shaking too much to be the cause, it seems to be the pump (it makes the hole car shake a little bit) Is it a pump issue? May it be that the pump was shaking already and that loosened the bolts in the first place? Is it dangerous? Thank you

im a 2000 sl2 saturn owner 326000 km and i rarely have issues with it, lately one galliper jammed on the passenger side, but it was winter and did not used the car for over a month + i suspect it was an original one, a 326k km galliper, sure we can ear some little noise when riding it but it still go straight when gazing or braking, start every times. i have also a versa that is reliable ( am i lucky? ) but for a strange reason i prefer my old saturn, i even have 17 inch wheels for summer time so peeps can see my rusted rear drums. XD

Its actually a lot more than that. Theres a documentary on Youtube that explains how Saturn used to be a great company & made decent cars from the beginning, and then how GM pulled the plug on their design bureau. It also included the fact that the company was terribly mismanaged, and towards the end, all they were selling were a bunch of rebadged Opels. The bottom line was: GM created a new car company to successfully run itself independently, then they stepped back in and tried to run it themselves and destroyed it.

Only had 1 GM car. . It was a 94 SL2 with 24k in 2004. Was OK till about 60k on it. was always needing oil between oil changessensors were needing to be replaced, coolant tank, leaking valve body gasket and the odo stopped before 90k. got rid of it right away and never looked back/ I know someone with a 01 SL2 bought new and now with 2 long blocks that burned oil and 3 trans, the last one was in the shop for months. with about 185k now, I keep saying what Scotty says. . go with a Toyota.

I shocked an American car manufacturer starting out making a quality product till it starts getting a good rep and popular rhen making them cheap and far pooer quality. Thats just. well American consumerizum marketing to Americans. they make far better vehicles for their Europien and Asian markets that they dont get the patriotic buys from. Seriously if someone is purchasing based on American product it can be a shitty product. AND made in China with Chineese parts. But assembled in
