Heres How Much All My Cars Cost Chuck Taylor: Damn Scotty You sound like me. In 45 years Ive only spent 14, 000 on buying cars. Atwoyear old 1978 Fiat 124 Spider(4000) and a new 1986 Toyota 2WD truck (10, 000. Drove that Fiatfor6 years and sold with 150, 000 miles. Neverhad any mechanicalissues except a snapped clutch cable. No rust. Did put on a new top cost 180 and did it myself in an easy afternoon of work. TheToyota is mydailydriver of 33 years since bought new and 468, 000 miles. Still going strong. Stuff has worn out, but OEM engine, trans, driveline, and differential. Parts are cheap and plentiful. Still gets 32 MPG highway at 65 MPH. A/C still pumping out 36 degrees. Its a truck. I get several people a yearwalk up and ask me if I want to sell it. They say they want a real small truck. Ford missed with the new Ranger. Should have been their mid 80s sized Ranger

I purchased a new car once, just because I never owned a new car before, & I wanted too at least once. I 100% regret it. but that is likely more due to my choice in car. I purchased a new 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage, cheap little car good on gas, & I liked it because it was abit different. & very simple. (Ignoring the CVT) But Ive had tons of issues with it, and it appears I got a dud, since I read on forums that other people dont have my issues. So now I want to hot potato it since the dealer doesnt really want to help me with it. So I gotta find the money to get the lean off so I can sell it for pennys towards what I paid for it. Never again. Ill just stick to bargain hunting on CHEAP cars.

hi scotty can u talk about tires in your next video. things like what tires are best, are factory recommended tires the best, also why more worn our thread tires should be put in front. there has to be some advantage on putting 2 new sets of tires in front as compare to back. (beside spinning out in rain. but what about dry weather, i see sooooo many sub brand tires from big tires companies, from where to buy the tires from ( i like discount tires. but what about other retailers stores, and is buying used tires with lots of threads a good idea, tire warranty and what tires u have on your cars. and is nitrogen filled air a good choice. thanks

Yeah, new cars are nice but yet you have issues all new cars have issues then you have to take them back to the dealership have it fixed then your without your car. There are so many good vehicles on the secondary Market if you do your research have it checked out a used car will be perfect. My parents bought one new car in their entire lives and my father said you never do it again and thats when the Dodge Caravan first came out. He was one of the first people to buy one. Myself while new cars are nice the smell is awesome I prefer used.

Scotty, you are a great example of most millionaires - and I hope listeners heard that you became on prior to YouTube - you were a mechanic and saved, lived below your means, bought and kept your home, buy used cars and kept that going. No privilege, favoritism or any ism that modern society has labeled - hard work, living frugally and saving consistently and I imagine you are a multi-millionare and will always live this life style. You are a great example of what great opportunity this country has. God bless you brother

Here is a question. I recently purchased a 2006 Honda Accord with less than 50, 000 miles on it. I know the previous original owner. I am experiencing really over sensitive breaking on the car. I did some research and it seems the grabby breaks were quite common in that generation Accord. No one seems to have a fix for it. At its worst it can be like throwing out an anchor. I really love the car though and seem to be coming to terms with it. Still I wonder if you have ever dealt with that problem. Thanks -Ben

Hey Scotty thanks for all the free info about car repairs, its hard for me to compute that small of a number spent on cars considering youve been driving 50 years I have a question for you, Im looking to buy a used Toyota 4Runner for my wife I dont want to spend more than 5K. I like that it has cargo space and a second row of seats. What year 4Runner should I consider buying? Or alternative SUV? Again thanks for all the great videos, consider answering my question if you get a chance thanks.

Scotty, I hope that this is where you pull your questions from. I cannot ask a family member this question, because they are too GM biased. You are so anti GM, I need a 4X4 truck with at least an extended cab in the 10, 000 range. What Ford platforms. were the most reliable? What is the life expectancy of that platform before the need for major repair? My prior cars were GM 4. 3 V6, Jeep 4. 0L Straight 6, both 200, 000 life expectancy. Yes sir I rang that bell

Scotty is correct. The 4 cylinder Nissan hardbody was indestructible. I once worked for company many moons ago, and the owners were cheap and our fleet of trucks were well over 10, 15 20 years old. I tried blowing up the engine on purpose by redlining it, dropping the transmission, driving in the wrong gears and neither the transmission or engine blew up It was amazing I wanted a new truck and well I left before ever getting that new truck.

Im also cheap, my first car was free to me (1995 Dodge Stratus p. o. s, my 2nd and current car is a falling apart 1998 Honda Civic that refuses to die that I paid 2100 for over 6 years ago, and now it looks like Im about to acquire my 3rd vehicle possibly for free or dirt cheap, a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4. 0. Well see how long this one lasts until it blows up lol. But until it does, Im gonna enjoy driving every minute of that old ZJ.
