That was not a loose sparkplug problem that is a incorrectly gapped sparkplug problem. Sombody has already changed them. Iridium sparkplugs do have to be gapped correctly. To wide of gap and the sparkplug will misfire usually at an Idle. Change the plug with new plugs and it will go away for 20, 000 or 30, 000 miles then it will come back when it gets carboned up a little. Best to gap new sparkplugs at what the manufacturer recommends in the owner's manual. He could have regapped them and the check engine light would go out.

I had a bad ignition coil and only changed that one. They are 90 each. Three in the back are really hard to get to so I'm just going to replace them as they fail. The beauty cover had to be broken off too. It is off now for good. It was a hassle. My next car might be only a four cylinder.

So if you do this yourself. How in the world can you clear the check engine light in your car? Do we need one of those machines you were using? I heard only the dealer can clear the check engine light. Or does it go away if you get rid of the problem?

Hi Scotty, You didn't mention the Queen Elizabeth Highway in Ontario Canada. Or, any highways in New York State. You went to university in Toronto. And I currently live in St. Catharines just outside of Niagara Falls Ontario.

Scotty I have a 1998 Chevy Tahoe built in Mexico. I know that these are good trucks but should I be cautious about it because its built in Mexico. It has a 5. 7 v8 and a brand new transmission with a shift kit
