2000 Firebird? No. I had a 1999 model from 5, 000 miles to 34, 000 miles until I sold it and got a 2002 Ford Ranger Edge (a model with a 2 factory lift kit) The Firebirds (manual) transmission went out once under warranty and it took 3 trips to the service department to get the rear end to stop leaking. On a hot day the top section of the dash (very thin plastic) would expand and I could see the wiring behind it through the gap. That 3. 8 L V6 is famously bulletproof but the rest of the car was GM-in-the-90s-level iffy. Its not a performer so any V6 from the era would be just a quick whether it was a minivan, midsize car or pickup. It had a shameful amount of body roll. The 5-speed had such ridiculously long throws that I (average height) would have to lean my body slightly to the right to shift into 5th. That lifted Ranger pickup I mentioned with a 5-speed on the floor had shorter throws and handled a LOT better in corners with much less body roll. I still think the Firebird is a GORGEOUS car and loved the T-tops, but it was also a dog.

Your opinion about GM is soooo PATHETIC Like really? You are about to tell me the legendary 3800 series 2 engine has a reliability problem? When they are known to go 200K-300k+miles on it The fact you see 3800 V6 cars from the early 90s upward, with hundreds of thousands of miles on it Then you say that Fire bird V6 is NEVER going to be collectible. how do you know? Can you predict the future? You think you know EVERYTHING? There are cars and trucks now that know one thought be collectable from the 70s even, and are know especially trucks, even the Bronco is starting to go up. Pontiac isnt being made anymore unfortunately so who knows if that that body style will ever be collectable. sure its only a V6, but down the road, who says that cant be changed out. or just desirable for it looks alone, or if it becomes rare someday.

Notice every single car someone mentions is not recommended and uh I know a family that since 2011 they have been buying all the new Hyundais and especially the Genesis one of them I know specifically has 263000 miles on it like mentioned you do the maintenance on the vehicle most likely it will last you as far as Volkswagens I mean we all know that those Transmissions arent the greatest but I mean come on Im not defending Hyundai I had a 2011 Hyundai Sonata 2. 0 T and honestly that car treated me pretty well my cousin got in a 2011 with a 2. 4 and there was a massive massive recall on the bottom end of those engines something about the crankshaft being manufactured the wrong way picking up shards of Steel in the oil pickup lines

Beam me up, Scotty. I just financed a 2017 Chevy Cruze hatchback, 16, 000 miles on it, and i have noticed that the car does not like to be learned on ar as HP goes. I leaned on it the first time I drove it off the lot and I got a warning that the StabiliTrak WAS NOT ACTIVEay this because the car changes gears when It feels like it. Please tell me what to do before my 45 bumper-to-bumper, the warranty runs out. I Not that I want to, but why does the car tell me that it needs maintenance. The Check engine lights came and everything. What does this mean? ? Can I not drive my NEW car as I wish? Cut me some truth. .. .. . Love this channel

Hey Scotty, I have a 2002 Chrysler 300m that wont start. It cranks just fine with no odd noises. After the power is on for about 10 seconds, the check engine light flashes, but it tries to turn over when I spray starting fluid into the air intake. Im thinking its a fuel pump, because I dont really hear anything kick on when I turn the cars power on, but I dont want to replace that unless I have to. I already checked the fuel pump fuse and it was good. Any advice as for where to start? Thanks.

Regarding your advice on selling the VW Beetle with the bad transmission that needs to be warmed up to work, it is important to note that when you go to sell that car it would be unethical not to notify a buyer that the transmission has a problem and describe the problem. Its just dishonest to try and cover up a deficiency that seriously affects the cars value. The car will still have value, but the new buyer needs to adjust the price to reflect to cost to repair the transmission.

Scotty help pleaseLooking to buy a used 2013 manual transmission FJ Cruiser 87k miles or used 2010 automatic with only 84k miles. The 2013 is from the north east so worried about rust, but the 2010 is a California car and no rust. Choose the FJ because I heard the Tacoma is its cousin? Am l wrong to think that a used manual transmission is a easier fix than the used automatic if there are problems? BTW. great job thank you for sharing your expertise

Im planning on getting a work horse for everything, including work and family duty. I plan on keeping it for 20 30 years, if itll last that long. I would pick the Raptor, but 2 turbos over time is just adding more problems to the equation.

Sotty what the f is with the prices in America for those automatic transmissions five grand 6 grand what the f man for my Audi A4 2010 automatic transmission 8 speed gearbox plus reverse brand new its 3000 if I go to a junk yard Ill get it for 1000 will be really good mileage on them so what the f is wrong with that country do mechanics in US they think theyre gods seriously when I hear you spitting those prices makes me sick
