Just out of curiosity, I test drove a Hyundai Genesis back when they first came out, somewhere around 2009. It was a more basic version with the standard 3. 8L V6. I was thoroughly impressed with the car. Smooth, quiet, spacious, comfortable. The V6 had plenty of pep. I thought the overall quality was very impressive. Cut to a decade later and time has shown them to be reliable cars that hold up well over time. Genesis is basically a poor mans Lexus. An affordable alternative. Only reason to buy a German competitor is if you can genuinely afford the higher price tag, lower reliability isnt a concern, and astronomical repair costs are trivial to you and you must drive German brand for the prestige. Otherwise, overlooking Genesis is pretty foolish from a financial standpoint. I know someone is going to say but they have no resale value. Well, neither do the German luxury brands. If you want best resale value, head over to Lexus. Just keep in mind youre spending 15k-20k more up front and if you keep a car for a very long time, you wont recoup that extra money.

My accountant was retiring and trying to sell her 04 Elantra. Nobody even called. It was a salvage when she got it in 14 w suspension damage. So she gave it to me to drive while we rebuilt my 87 FJ 60 Land Cruiser. 3 years later the LC still not finished, but the Elantra has surprised me. A timing belt, a couple of tranny flushes, a wheel, tires, alternator, a windshield and struts have made it something i now want to keep around. 227k miles and it rides and handles like a dream. Lots of power. 15% better mileage than my girlfriends 04 civic, which i really hate to drive. EVERYTHING works, elec windows and mirrors, and All the switches work like new. Yes, ive invested 4k but this car has never let me down. Hyundais are So Underrated.

Just bought a 2009 Genesis w/Technology package for 11, 000 with only 46684 miles on it. I fn love it. Granted Im only on day 3 lmao but Im very pleased so far. Super deal IMO. 2 Owners 1st owner put 4300 miles on it in 2 years and 2nd put 43000 in 7 years. I think I was blessed with good karma. I help people out homeless people less fortunate not to say I did but because life is tough and thats how I was raised. I truly believe in no good deed goes unseen. I dont judge people because you have know idea what they been through. Maybe me passing on 6 cars then finding this car a corner dealer with 15 cars for sale is my reward. I like to think so. I work for Hyundai and when I see these comeback for service its rarely anything major theyre pretty reliable. Its a growing brand and it is becoming an independent brand Genesis use to be part of Hyundai but not anymore genesis is opening theyre own dealership and doesnt want anything to do with Hyundai even though genesis parts are technically Hyundai none of their parts now say hyundai/Kia on them they all say Genesis just like the whole Toyota and Lexus, Infiniti and Nissan thing. Pretty soon they will have a genesis SUV. Overall theyre great cars for the price point and better warranty than most brands, and you can at least check your own damn oil how many luxury cars nowadays have dipsticks?

From what I have seen, german engineering has gone down the toilet. I dont believe in it one bit. I have a relative in Korea who also drove BMW that self ignited itself in middle of a highway. There were thousands of BMW on fire in Korea. The government stepped in and determined it was due to faulty design. Heat wasnt being exhausted well enough some of the plastic parts melted and leaked engine oil and it eventually ignited. I think this happened exclusively for korean models but I dont trust BMW anymore. Anything but BMW. At least I have never heard of thousands of self igniting hyundai so theres that.

I like hunting I believe theyre making Leaps and Bounds forward but if they really want to be the number one company they should not be charging for safety safety should never be an option including Lane keep assist pedestrian stop power disc brakes suspension front and rear sensors AC heated seats and heated mirrors I believe should all be standard we also have the technology to have self tinting windows and headlight protection clear windows this should also be standard in new vehicles so especially Vehicles sold in the year 2020

People buy luxury cars to show off not to commute. If people were rational everyone would be driving little econoboxes. Who really needs a Bugatti? Yet you do see them on the road. Nobody hates on Bugatti despite the crazy service cost. German automakers thrive on human psych. Most people have an urge to buy these beautiful cars. Its like an addiction. You see it, you want it. They will never sell you cheap, reliable cars, they prefer to go out of business instead.

I have a 2014 Hyundai Genesis 5. 0 r-spec and its just an amazing car. 429hp, 0-60 in 5 seconds and I can fit the whole family in the car w/no issues. My only gripe is that lack of after market upgrades. This car brand new was almost 50k. Picked it up with less than 30k miles on it for 20k. I too compared it to an infinity Q50, BMW 5 series and Audi A6. The Genesis blew them all away in performance, comfort and price. It was an easy decision =)

Im a big fan of Hyundai/Genesis. I remember in the 80s when this brand was a joke at around 5, 000. They have become very dependable and legitimate competition for not only other Asian brands but German as well. Its a company I root for success. It helps that I owned 2 BMWs that had massive parts failure on both around 80, 000 miles. Im beyond badge loyalty and status and just want a well rounded, reliable car.
