Here\'s Why This Jeep Compass is Crap freckleface1981: I had the 2007 Jeep Compass Limited, that thing whined like crazy, couldn't figure out what it was, every time we take it to the dealership, they couldn't find anything wrong It drove okay, it got me to Mobile, AL(from Memphis, TN) twice with no issues. That was until I hit about 160K miles, in 2017, me and the hubby leaving Wal-Mart and the transmission just decided to quit We were like 15 miles from home, we'd drive it until the tranny got hot and didn't want to pull any more, finally, we just got it towed. I knew it was toast anyway because they have that awful Jatco JF011E automatic tranny and those things are HORRIBLE IF I ever decide to get another vehicle it will be a Honda Pilot or the Toyota RAV4. I can't with American cars anymore. I've never owned a foreign car, but I think it may be time to go ahead and get one.

Gee Scotty youre as bad as Fiat- your full of it This platform youre featuring was based on the Mitsubishi PM/Mk platform Overlander etc etc. which was that ugly Dodge caliber with the world engine and that was around way before Fiat had anything to with to do with Chrysler in this version youre showing. The compass was always ugly and now in 2019 its an ugly and a pile under fiat Cant speak for the current version but both my Patriots aka same thing have been just fine. But If you bought one with that crap Jatco CVT 4 wheel drive garbage & transmission. YOU GOT WHAT you deserved for just being ignorant thinking that was going to be a reliable off road vehicle. those ARE JUNKBut I digress its todays version of a station wagon and why the heck does anyone living in the suburbs in Texas even need anything 4 wheel or all wheel drive to begin with? s Thats why the gas mileage is crap it always is in all these types of vehicles no matter who makes them. Junk waste of money drive trains nobody needs to drive a car safely in the first placeIf your fussed, get one with manual or the Hyundai 6 speed headaches gone Wont go much over 100k my arse Ive seen them with well over 250 pushing 300k on them and still doing just fine. Dang you people are hard on cars on Texas apparently Yes their cheep but I dont remember Chrysler saying they werent cheap or the best car you could buy. Nope never heard ever say that so do you expect it? People drive what you can afford and cars overall have been more reliable then they ever have been history. So what if your backup camera blows up just turn your head around and look and you cant argue with how reliable that senecio is That kind garbage on cars is what makes them crap

About 4 years ago; a friend of mine bought a brand new 2015 Jeep Compass from the Chrysler Jeep dealer. It only had 7 miles on it when he purchased it off the showroom and from day one all he had was problems with it. The little 4 cylinder automatic in the Compass barely had enough power to climb the hills driving to his house. and it started leaking transmission fluid within a week after he bought it. He kept taking it back to the service dept at the Jeep dealer and the mechanics said there was nothing wrong with it. Finally after he owned it for about a month. it blew a head gasket. after only 100 miles of use. So the Jeep dealer mechanic fixed the head gasket. and then he traded it in for a Jeep Grand Cherokee. He drove the Jeep Cherokee for 4 years after that and never had no problems since.

You may be right about these Jeeps of this generation Scotty. But, go back 25 years ago when AMC sold the Jeep name to Chrysler, Chrysler kept using as its main power plant the AMC 4. 0 straight six engine They continued until 2004. before they were using a V6 which in comparison to the 4. 0, were far less reliable I've got a 2000 Grand Cherokee with the bulletproof 4. 0 engine with 170, 000 miles on it, and it's virtually trouble free Other than a new radiator, the car is all original I just maintain it with regular oil changes, and it's an extremely reliable vehicle I would advise anyone looking to buy a Jeep to look for anything before 2005, and you've got yourself a great SUV There's plenty of them available on FACEBOOK Marketplace at reasonable prices

Drove a rental Compass from Syracuse NY to Binghamton NY for an academic conference (no, I'm not a professor) a couple of years ago. I quickly realized what a piece of junk it was. That it was basically a light-duty vehicle was not the problem. It is what is what it is, something to drive around town with the groceries in a place where you have a snowy or icy climate in the winter. The problem is that it was soon obvious it is not a vehicle that it going to last very long either. If you're one of those people who gets a new vehicle and keeps it no more than four or five years, maybe it's for you. It's cheap enough, and why pay double the sticker if you don't need real off-the-road and touring capability?

Auto makers today focus on the Superficial aspects and Superficial Buyers. People like the looks, Design so they want one Its called the Sales Appeal Effect, its appealing so that ALL THAT MATTERS TO SO MANY BUYERS, then 2 or 3 years later its NOT SO APPEALING. Automakers rely on this from consumer, being Infatuated with the looks, design or Name Brand, than taking the time, doing researching Automaker play this game well, most Consumers want a vehicle that has looks and style and never actually read Customer Reviews. If you take time and read ( from Several Sites ) the 1 - 3 Star reviews, you will have a really good idea what you can expect from and about a particular vehicle.

I just wonder what on earth you guys do with cars over there. Watching Scottys videos seems all but Toyotas are going to be huuuuuuge money pits and you know what? Ive been driving for hundreds of thousands of miles Mercedes, Alfas, FIATs, Hondas. and they have all held up pretty well. None of them has been a huge money pit. Maybe maintenance is key, not just jump in and dont bother even looking at the oil level once in your lifetime. It is true though that with increasing electronics if SOMETHING goes wrong you are in deep trouble. No more fixing, just replacing very expensive electronic devices. And that happens in every single brand, including Toyota. Lol.

Scotty your being slightly disingenuous towards fiat, Chrysler quality control problems stem from years of penny pinching, by greedy management. First thing fiat did was revamp all the interiors, the interior quality was a decade behind other manufacturers. I had a couple of dodge's and the caliber was a great example how not to build a car interior. Also the tipm issues, rusting subframes, door locks seizing, instrument cluster tailers, CVT transmission failures. its all issues with Chrysler not fiat, not saying fiat are any more reliable, but they do have more pride in what they build.

I almost got into a bad wreck with the jeep compass. I was on the turnpike heading north i saw a masserati speeding towards me in my rearview mirror i couldnt move over because there was a car in thw center lane. So i thought let me at least speed up. I stomp on the gas and there was about 4 to 5 second lag and when the ao call power kicked in it didnt speed up much. It was highly underwhelming. Luckly for me the masserati had the foresight and swerve to the shoulder lane on the left and flew by. I complained to the rental company and they switch me out to a Chevy traverse

I gotta 2012 Patriot 4x2, 2. 0L, 87k. Had some early issues: suspension, throttle body, went thru two gear boxes. All covered under warranty thankfully. Currently doing okay (knock on wood. Kept up on routine maintenance. Shoulda did more research when I was shopping. My first new car. I do like the Jeep look of it tho and it does ride very nice at cruising speed. But I get it, its not the greatest. At this point Ill just run it til its doneFirst and last Chrysler car for mePS - the spark plugs are recommended to be replaced EVERY 30k on these
