Starting this leg of our journey at Lyon Gare de Saint-Exup-ry, we leave the TGV line shortly after departing Lyon to join the traditional rail network near Saint-Quentin-Fallavier, travelling onward through relatively flat terrain punctuated with a mixture of towns, industrial landscape and farmland to Saint Andr- le Gaz. Here we leave the double track main line to join a surprisingly rural singe track cross country route to Chambery serving attractive villages and towns such as Saint Beron La Bridoire, Arr-t de L-pin-le-Lac and Aiguebelette le Lac. Chambery is a real gem for railway enthusiasts complete with a working round house. At Montm-lian we take the trans-alpine route to Turin via Modane, passing through spectacular scenery before entering the Frejus tunnel to emerge into Italy at Bardonecchia. The onward journey to Turin reveals more impressive views of Alpine scenery as we descend to our destination at Turin, where we are treated to a cavalcade of interesting cars, both new and old, many being products of the towns own automotive industry

Hello Tim, region South East France to Italia is unknown to me. ( I know Lyon a little bit and more Atlantic coast region at Bordeaux - a very nice town) Therefore the ride Lyon to Turin through the Sea Alps ) was of interest to me. A friend of mine doing free climbing visited Briancon but your trip was more at South where Alps montains become lovely pre-alpine region. Scenery similar to North Alps but with better weather I assume. - Heinz

Hi Tim! I remember having seen part I. What struck me most is the aesthetics with which the nature is preserved & conserved by people in the region. The tram in the end was so cute.
