Today is the last day of 2012 and it has been quite a year. I'm finally getting back to regularly posting videos - almost one a week. I've captured some things I've seen before, some things that are new to me, and some things that won't ever happen again. All in all, a great year. Since December 27th, 2012 marks both 10 years that I have been filming trains and 5 years since I created my first YouTube account (CoasterMike2105, I thought this would be another good benchmark year to post a long year in review video. So, here it is, just shy of 20 minutes long. You'll see everything from regular Surf Line action in the San Diego area to mainline Steam Locomotive Excursions to Amtrak Heritage Units (Anniversary) to my first trip to Tehachapi Pass to my first Electric locomotive captured in HD and finally, steam in the snow (more on that not too far in the future. All shots are presented in chronological order from mid January 2012 right up to December 20th, 2012. Now, with all that said, sit back and relax and enjoy a year's worth of some of my best and most significant shots! Shot list: 1: (00: 33) A north bound pacific surfliner train, number 785, blasts through the Carlsbad Village Coaster Station. 2: (00: 45) San Pedro Red Car replica number 501 heads northeast along the water front. Note the brand new coat of paint. 3: (00: 59) A set of 3 U2 type cars heads south on the blue line in downtown San Diego. In the background, construction of the new public library is well under way. 4: (01: 13) Northbound Pacific Surfliner Train 565 passes through Calafia Beach in San Clemente, CA. 5: (01: 29) A northbound coaster train passes over the San Dieguito Lagoon next to the Del Mar Fairgrounds and Race Track. 6: (01: 41) Pacific Surfliner train 583 with a set of low level cars, Dash-8 507, and Non-powered control unit 90208 (F40PH with no motor) crosses Beech street in San Diego. To the left, the US Bank building displays a Whale mural by famed artist Wyland. This mural is now blocked by a new skyscraper. 7: (02: 30) Capitol Corridor train 72? departs the Fremont Depot on an early morning weekend in later March. This train is destined for San Jose. 8: (03: 20) SP P-8 class Pacific 2472 rests in front of the Sunol Depot on the Niles Canyon Railway in Fremont, CA and is then seen passing the yard at Brightside on a Springtime Steam special excursion. 9: 10

Would be good Mike, but don't do it especially now the video is uploaded, it was more a comment for consideration for future video's. I really like knowing where places are as it leads to all manner of other railroading links, wonderful stuff this internet! Your shots of the Durango and Silverton in the snow were excellent (about the only venue I recognized. I recall many years ago that there was a static loco (Big Boy) at the small Pomona RR museum, is that still there?
Cheers. John

I can add the info into the description without much trouble. Most of my videos focus on one particular subject, so I didn't think to put all the information into the video this time. Oh well. Yes, the big Boy # 4014 is still at Pomona, but possibly not for long. The Union Pacific RR is trying to get it from the museum to restore it for excursion service! I believe the target date for completing the restoration is 2019, provided that the transaction goes through.

A really good video Mike. Brings back memories of when I lived in So. Cal. in the 80's and days at OERM with my family. Even shots of the Blue Angels. what more! well done. It would have been nice if you would have subtitled the venues for us none US viewers.
Kind Regards,
John. UK.

Thank you for watching, John. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the video. If you would like, I can put up a list of shots and info on all of them in the description. -Mike A.
