All Aboard for the Grand Canyon! In May of 2012, Santa Fe Steam Locomotive 3751 made a special excursion from Los Angeles, California to the Grand Canyon and return as part of the state of Arizona's State Centennial Celebration. For the next 50 minutes, come along and follow the Grand Canyon Limited excursion for the round trip between Williams, AZ and the Grand Canyon, and then the two day return trip from Williams to Los Angeles via the BNSF Peavine and Arizona and California Railroad by way of Parker, AZ. Join along, as Santa Fe 3751 returns to the Grand Canyon! This is my first full length video that I have published to my channel. I spent hours putting it together, so I hope that the final product is somewhat enjoyable. As always, please give me feedback! I hope it's not too long. Links for both the San Bernardino Railroad Historical Society and the Central Coast Railway Club are in the video, right before the credits

Why was it run over the A&C instead of across the ATSF (BNSF) Transcon?
I mean was BNSF against it even with em having all that rescue power in-tow.
On other notes I would love to a Scotty Special organized, LA to Chicago and return via Raton Pass, NM. Then maybe 30 car organized reefer same route using a long offset cupola waycar fully restored of course.
we all can dream.
great vid by the way thank you.
watching these steamers makes me nostalgic for Tom Mix reruns and coke from a glass bottle and maybe bag of planters peanuts.

Returning to the rails of the Grand Canyon Railway, Santa Fe 3751 and Grand Canyon 4960 have been posed side-by-side. in front of the old log depot at the South Rim. :(
The depot was built in 1909 and is one of only 3 surviving log depots in the United States.

I use to have the VHS video showing the restoration and first run of Santa Fe 3751. Nice to see her still running the rails! Last time I was at the grand canyon. The rails had trees growing up in the middle. Sum sections had missing rails near Williams, AZ due to metal thieves

Great steam locomotive right there, but man they need tk get a while same set of passenger cars like the coaches the 844 pulls. They all are the same color. The 3751 is pulling a bunch of miscellaneous coaches and all different. Idk, it just looks uneven for me.

Because the trips are really expensive and hard to organize. I'm sure if there was more of a demand for these trips and more opportunity, it would run more often. That's the problem with main line steam these days though.

This is like, 5 years after the video, but thank you. I'm in love with steam locomotives and NEVER get tired of watching them. Awesome video. Good work. Thank you. Kudos to the engineer for the extra whistle blasts for the video.

There should be an NRHS convention at the Grand Canyon railroad where 6 steam engines participate
6. ATSF 2926
5. ATSF 3751
4. SP 4449
3. UP 844
2. UP 4014
1. Grand Canyon 4960

If 18 ever returned to the GCR with 29 and 4960 3751 can join the three and could do a train with 4 steam locomotives!
Edit: This comment aged badly, she has returned home to Pennsylvania

Does grand canyon no longer have steam engines in regular service? When I was there a little less than ten years ago they did, but they were not in good condition. How are they on money?
