I was wondering could you do me a favor my absolute favorite era of diesel railroading is between the early 70s and the mid-90s back then they didn't have ditch lights I don't like it's like I miss the Rio Grande and the Southern Pacific even Kansas City Southern had oscillating headlights I miss them so much they are so cool can you do an episode talking about railroads that use them and how cool they are they definitely grabbed your attention a lot more than flashing ditch lights I wish railroad still used oscillating headlights to this day I bet it would cut down on Railroad Crossing accidents because that's sweeping oscillating light grabs your attention I was watching a short line railroad video on the Bessemer and Lake Erie their engines are so cool they have ditch lights but their head light up on the cab by the number boards when they honk the horn the headlight starts oscillating those lights back in the day sure did make railfanning fun I miss them I was wondering if you could compile a video of railroads that used oscillating headlights thank you just a suggestion I just think they were really cool piece of railroad equipment that you don't see very much anymore peace out have a great day coasterfan2105

Nice video about my former employer ( 1978 - 1984. A side note here, BNSF was not a merger. Burlington Northern, Inc. purchased ATSF outright. The then new full spell Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railroad then traded on NYSE under BN stock symbol (BNI) and BN Inc was the surviving corporate entity. Shares traded under BNI until Berkshire Hathaway acquired all BNI shares outright or exchanged them for BRKB shares (I swapped mine for BRKB's. While working in BN Marketing on network strategy issues in early 80's, we simulated acquiring MILW, CNW, CR and just about any combination of railroads using rail network design software from ALK. The best combination was BN + ATSF which we thought, back in 1982, would make a great railroad where the partners complimented the commercial strengths of each other and compensated for the weaknesses of each partner. It was a great place to work, good people to work with and had many good times.

Someone is getting old.
My memories of BN were seeing F7s and F9s in Duluth and Northtown.
Even got a few with Frisco power mixed in.
Back when, it was common for folks to travel to Chicago and shoot all those E8-9s. We even traveled to southern Ill. to shoot the bicentennial caboose. Herrin, Ill.

Burlington northern was one of my favorite freight train operators when I was little. I watched lots of train related stuff on DVD and Burlington northern was very common on those DVD-s. It-s cool Burlington northern still has some operating locos. Even older gen BNSF locos and Santa Fe trains

Thanks for this awesome video! My dad lived in Red Oak, Iowa during the last years of the BN and saw many of the engines you fixed. The BN is my favorite railroad as well and I am currently making a Burlington Northern layout in my basement. Keep pumping out those videos!

I grew up in the 80s and 90s close to the Stampede pass line through Covington, so it was cool to see the occasional (closer to rare) green BN loco. They started using that route a lot more once they merged with ATSF and painted the trains.

Another round of awesome clips Mike! Cascade green has always been one of my favorite paint schemes. Even though it's incredibly simple, it's just so appealing to the eye. I just wish there were still BN engines around San Diego: /

Hey Mike, I noticed that i've never seen a BN dash 8 or dash 9 locomotive painted in the green and black paint scheme. Did they not purchase many or am I just not looking in the right places?

So cool to see that, I grew up in the Havelock area of Lincoln, NE and saw so many of these trains and logos for many years. Lots of old memories came back seeing those logos.
