LIVING OFF GRID in a YURT - Debt-Free Life is Hard Work - Ep. 71 gary: Jake! you and Nicole rock, don't let anybody tell you you can't do something. 4 times i built where they said i couldn't, 4 times i turned a prairie or forest into a homestead. And your right you snooze you lose. and just to help you out when cutting long boards with your chainsaw. for transporting them turn them on their side they won't break. not flat. When building headers for houses i. we always turn them sideways. for instance take two 2 x 4's sandwich in-between them with a 3/8's board and they are just as thick as 2 X 4 board which is 3. 5 inches. you build headers above doors windows anywhere there needs strength and it is a bearing wall. So in saying that carry them sideways instead of flat. Love your guys videos on off grid living.

First, let me say I've just recently started watching you guys. AMAZING what you have succeeded in doing. I am 62 years old and work out 4 to 5 times a week, hard. Just watched your comment about Jack Lalane. At that time you were 38. Ive had some back issues in my life, but I keep going, and so should you. If it wasn't for the MOSQUITOS ID BE THERE. My wife Sandy who is 21 years younger than me would go NUTS, lol. We're hopefully moving to Arizona from Wisconsin soon, Kingmon specifically. So interested in your Desert Garden philosophy. Keep going strong, No more slicing your body up Nicole. You guys are great. Jim From Wisconsin.

You are right Jake use it or lose it! However there are a couple of caveats. Number-one you must keep a very strong core and number two you must stay hydrated. 6 years ago I herniated a disc at L4 5 and had two bulging discs at L3 and L4. After a couple of steroid shots I started doing yoga stretches, squats and cross crunches every day. Now, 6 years later at 75 years of age I work hard everyday and have no back problems. I love your videos! You Both are so inspirational! -

Still catching up with the videos. My mother use to watch Jack La Lane and dad started watching and getting into the philosophy of -Use it or Loose it-. At 99, he -Lost it--but it took 4 strokes over the course of 5 years before his energy and vigor flagged. Almost 101 now, and sleeps more than anything else. but still the doctors are amazed how well he is. I'm 66, and still enjoy getting up and doing physical jobs.

You 2 are so motivating! I have been having a hard time with recovery and living in cold ND. Today I got up and made tea and chili. Thanks for sharing your life off grid with us. You are helping me get outside my self/head and I am now motivated to be more sustainable and look forward to a simpler more natural life. My new fave!

You right Jake if you don't use it. You loose it.
Am in my 60s I can walk up to 5miles run
Jump, and I still work.
I have little ruff days sometimes but I don't let that stop me because I know once I stop using it am going to loose it. -

I've watched several of your videos and I've either missed it or haven't gotten to it yet, but what kind of puppy dogs are those? They seem extremely smart and well adapted to your chosen homestead! I bet they're a lot of fun as well as the kittens.
