Hi! With regard to the crazy bug population you have there, I have a suggestion we used to live in a wetland surrounded by forest, so I have a little bit of experience with bugs! Our issue was mostly mosquitoes. We used the Mega-Catch Ultra Pro 900 with CO2 tank. If you use it religiously, and always keep on top of refilling the CO2 tank (about every 2 months, you can control the population of biting bugs substantially.
We had a friend who literally delineated wetlands for a job say that she d never seen mosquitoes like our place. You walked through the grass and there would be clouds of mosquitoes billowing up as you swished through. It looked similar to your amount.
The Mega-Catch saved our sanity, and I was able to garden again without a full body mosquito suit.

raw salmon is very bad for dogs. our dog almost died from licking on a salmon. Be careful they don't lick on the fish. My husband had just come back from fishing and left the salmon for just a few minutes to get something and didn't see the dog lick on it, so when she got really sick the vet asked if she had been around salmon, and sure enough that was the culprit. she got better with medications, but vet said that she could have died from it. also said that if they make it through the illness, they would be immured from getting sick from it again. Just an FYI if you didn't know.

One thing you two aren't and that's lazy! Being a Mum is as important if not more so than helping cut wood and clear forest with Jake. Love it when Fox smiles and shows he is happy with his feet in the ocean, that moment was classic and such a good memory for you both to hold on to.
