the storm's where you get your power. nice pizza, too. but you'd better learn how to make a fire. stacking the wood the way you do is a typical beginner's error that blocks and baffles vertical air flow. you do it that way because you believe you are exposing more wood surface to kindling and hot coals. how's that working out? you stack in a pyramid so you have a strong draft. try it like that and you wont find yourself blowing on a smudgy weak fire that never seems to go critical

I was in Anchorage Alaska when a huge storm hit. Blew down loads of trees and that means power is out. But we rode down the Seward hiway and did a hike and when you got up in the trees you didn't even know the wind was blowing. If Jake and Nikki weren't in the woods the yurt might have tipped over like a bounce house. Maybe not, I think they know what they are doing. But, dang, if you have any older trees nearby cut them down.

Been observing you two new age off grid pioneers, for a while now through your excellent videos. You have both earned my admiration and respect. As a Irishman, who clings to the old ways and chooses tradition over fashion, I too seek only to live in harmony with nature. and engender a lasting respect for all of those generations who went before us. Your evident love and respect for each other is truly an inspiration.

While i love these kind of vids - I have noticed one major commonality, RARELY do we see older people doing this. Seems this is only for young people. So a question would be; how long do Jake Nicholle (for example) think they will be able to maintain this lifestyle?

The oven has to be heated, then after all the fire is gone, then put the pizzas or bread or meats! ,the secret is that the heat is at the dome and even, but if you leave it with fire it will overheat one side and overcook the food near the fire or charcoal!

When your growing a baby I would not eat too much mushrooms. They all have rather crazy chemicals in them. Mind you now that your baby is older they are not so sensitive to chemicals.

Everything is Perfect. BUT. the worse part is, they are destroying the forest by cutting the new born trees. How they can ask third world countries to plant the trees to save the earth?
