Short of planting and growing the trees you harvest you are doing it all, which is a Very Powerful Skill to have.
I remember Milling my First Trim moldings for a Custom Builder some 25 or 30 years ago.
How Amazing it felt to take a Rough piece of 5/4 walnut and running it through the joiner then the surfacing planer and then setting up the Shaper with the profile cutter for that molding profile and thinking to myself, with these few machines I can make anything I want out of wood and Beautiful things indeed.
Your doing the Framing Type of Stuff which is Excellent where I was doing the Finish pieces we look at each day.

Jake, I really enjoyed learning more about your childhood and early adulthood. All those experiences made you the man you are today and I understand you much better now! I have crazy respect for you now hearing about what made you so strong and tough. I admire that you waited til your 30’s to go on a date, did I hear that correct You waited til your 30’s to have a glass of wine. I think you and Nicole are doing such a great job raising your kids and wanting them to wait til they are older to experience things like phone, alcohol, social media, etc. I love that you love your family and made a point to say you love your one wife. Mad respect for you being an attentive husband, father and provider! And of course great athlete! We need to clone you! lol!

I saw Video by Elon and some of the comments he made truly showed that some of the chaooanges he faced required more than a 24'/7 commitment to master but it is like any sport or degree they all take dedicated commitment to succede. Elon wanted to accomplish something so he REad all he could find on what he wanted to do and became an expert then went above and beyond the call of duty to be the best at what ever he was working on so that he went to the bare bones and engeneered the best product he could to eliminate the competition by making the product he was working on be the best of it's kind. to the point of an order of magnitude (t0 times better) thuss eliminating the competition by building the best prodoct possible.

Hey mate, I really admire you with the things you have been doing and sharing with us and it makes me feel a bit useless and uneducated because I used to dream about doing a lot of the things you do but I think I wasn't smart enough or too lazy or something or too scared of failing to ever get anything started, so thank you for living out my younger man's dreams for me and I know you have to be surrounded by the right kind of people aswell so here's to Nicole for supporting and contributing to make everything happen, I love you both for what you have achieved and for the way you are bringing up your children, thank you!

My grandparents had a summer home north in British Columbia, Canada on Francis Lake up near Burns Lake. We were from Northern California and they drove up there every summer to live and build a little more on the property each year - and to fish. I was able to spend a summer there before my 7th grade year in school. One of the best summers in my life! Could only get to the cabin via boat across a 3 mile wide lake. Grandpa let me take the boat out fishing once I mastered using the oars. Lake trout and char. Loved it!
Your videos bring back so many great memories of that summer back in the 60's. Thank you!

I'm much older, 54. I do nothing like you and Nicolle do. I just want to commend you on hearing the negative talk and letting it drive you to be the best. I am very similar in mindset. I have recently heard that you should never tell anyone when you are succeeding. I agree with that and I agree with you comment regarding Mr. T. Just never telling anyone what your doing. People can be so ugly.
Regarding the house, I would so turn those doors in the living room area into beautiful French doors.

Also don't forget that your marshal Arts training has given you a much more balanced outlook on the world as yoy are now better prepaired than you might have been as a youngester and will no longer react the same, but with a greater understanding. Athletics teaches you to train to be the best but once you obtain that level then you also become a target and Martial arts training teaches you to have the ability to respond to an insult as a learning experience than then's fighting words type attitude self confidence truly breeds success if respected

I love Nicolle when she make food for the family and gardening tips from both of you. Jake and Nicolle I am so excited to watch your videos. I live in Florida near Daytona Beach and I am about 7 minutes from the ocean which I love. I try and go to the beaches that are very not very populated. I walk along the beach and am amazed at all the sea creatures and shells. Anyway back to your video. Becky from Florida

You have a bountiful life and there have been many people who have helped you and hindered you along the way. Do you have any thought on how to stay grounded and keep the idea of inter-connectedness between you and all of the things that support you now and the things that have contributed to where you are now. We also live on a remote island - with our own boat transport to get here. I do have water and sewage and electricity connected, though. But we also try to live as much as possible from nature, fruits and berries, mushrooms, fishing, wood burning with about the same climate as you have there in Canada - we possibly have slightly colder winters but slightly longer days in the summer, despite about the same latitude.

We have learned from farmers and from doing it ourselves some in town it's time to get real land now it would really help us in our new adventure

Hey Jake, I’m a 53 year old woman who has many different skills from working on cars to woodworking. I’ve had many people stand back and tell me what I can do or not do. My answer to all of those people is hide and watch! I have always strove to prove those nay sayers wrong and then stand back and watch their mouth drop. So keep going and strive for your ultimate self. I love to learn new skills and I probably will till the day I die. So thank you for your message to all. I totally agree.

I'm 65 and a widow, and if I could go back with raising my kids with my husband, it would living aff the grid you and Nicole are great parents to your adorable kids and are raising them in such a manner that every kid should be so lucky and there are so many haters out there just ignore them your family is wonderful I love you and Nicole with your beautiful kids and everything you and Nicole are doing is great

The guy who made the snarky comment about the mill, I bet you he doesn't have any mill at his house. Here you were thinking they could teach you something and you were already miles ahead of them. Note: you can take the longer board and sandwich stack them together turn sides up and cut on the sawmill, turn over and cut to width, might be easier then each on a table saw. especially the long ones. I am 67 grew up on a hog farm in Iowa, but been working in Engineering, Non-degree, since 1980 in Texas. Love to watch your story. I don't get to catch your live streams but only once so far.

Love everything that you're doing we love watching your videos. You're a very intelligent man and you have such a beautiful family. I envy the things that you do. I wish I was able to do the exact same thing, but I'm 72 years old and it would be very difficult at my age, but you are doing a fabulous job taking care of your family. Constantly adapting is the key to staying alive despite others opinions. You have a life many of wish we could have, keep on living your life, teach your family those skills. Most people will never be independent as you, probably see this a a threat/weakness in themselves.
