First of all: I'm not American but I am sure that there's racial injustice in America. But: There's a difference between national and international events. Olympic has to be neutral to everyone. You start with raising your fist. The next one shows the victory sign, the next one shows the sign of a radical group. What shall the committee allow and what shall be forbidden? To avoid all this discussion they forbid everything! Everything that is unrelated to sports. Feel free to use your popularity after the games to protest. But not at the sports event.
I totally agree with your opinion about racial injustice but I disagree that you blame the Olympics committee for setting you on probation.
Btw I'm very sensitive to discrimination. I never experienced discrimination until I was 30. I married a foreign girl from a Balkan country and I experienced the difficulties with VISA, not to be able to cross a national border because I had the stamp from another country in passport

So you knew the rules, knew the consequences for breaking them, and decided that what you had to say was more important to you than honoring your agreement to compete under those rules? Sounds like you made a choice with full knowledge of what might happen. Accept the consequences of your actions, hold your head high, and move on. There's a valid and logical reason for prohibiting political statements by athletes at the Olympics in exactly the same way that you had what you consider a valid and logical reason for your actions. Why should your opinion mean more than any other competitors with an equally closely held one? When you agree to compete under a particular organizations rules you don't get to pick and choose which of those rules apply to you and which only apply to other people.

I mean we heard about it, the corruption at IOC. but, when I saw for the first time, how the crooked and corrupted Russian judges for the figure skating in 2014 Sochi Olympics, robbed Yuna Kim of Gold medal and gave it to doping, and NEVER-ONCE-WON-GRAND PRIX no name figure skater Cheatikova who bobbled her jumps in her ugly performance. it sealed the deal and what the Olympics Games is about. I've never watched anything afterward. It's not about the spirit of the sports game.

From South East Asia, I am all here for protest against social injustice. But I personally think Olympics should be neutral. There are more than 100 countries that participate in Olympics each year. Each country has it's own set of social, racial, or incomel inequalities and injustice. If participant from every country starts protesting during Olympics then the Olympic will be just a global platform of protest.

What's
This is not white people telling black people what to do. Its enforcing rules. Just because you are black doesn't mean you are controlled or being told what to do. They are rules. The color of your skin should not let you get away with anything and everything you want. I for one do not want this woman representing me anywhere.

BLM is a white collective group chanting that blacks are victims. Think about that. Democrats created the KKK. Now BLM is their new lynch mob of racism and willing slavery. If you don't agree they will burn your house and business down. Whites that didn't agree 1861 became the Union. Whites for, were Confederates.

Stop creating racial hate NYT, u cherry pick the information, talk about John Carlos and Tommie Smith getting attacked, but failed to mention the Australian Athlete that was attacked because of their actions. Does NYT care about that Australian athlete? No cause it doesn t get their information across.

Thank you for alerting me to this. I had no idea protests were still penalised by the Olympic Committee It is 2020 ffs. If the IOC wants to create an idyll free of politics and protest, then it should look at itself first and clean itself up before admonishing people for protesting legitimately.

Olympic athletes are humans also they can protect, if they want to voice their struggles or social injustice. they should be allowed to because normal media never picks up any social injustices due to corporate greed and political influence or they just dont care.

Don't forget the humanity aspect in the Olympics. If it's just gonna be a data driven spreadsheet where we see who is the fastest, strongest, etc, then the Olympics become a German eugenics Nazi science experiment. And being just German, isn't very Olympic-ky.
