Today, Op-Docs brings you Elizabeth Los Mothers Day, which follows some children in California on an annual overnight bus program that brings them to visit their incarcerated parents. The film cuts straight to the emotional core of a huge topic, as did Los previous Op-Doc, the acclaimed Hotel 22, which tells the story of a very different kind of bus trip.

he said he was getting used to getting hurt, I've myself have been hurt a lot and I'm not even used to it I kinda relate to him because my mom was a big drug addict and was in and out of jail the same with my dad he left when I was 6 months old cause he is an alcoholic he didn't die but I've never gotten used to being hurt and you can just tell he's very strong cause I don't think anyone can endorse that.

2: 32 i can just tell by his breathing and his face that he is so scared to see his mom thinking what will happen. Ik that I can't feel the same way but I feel really sorry for that kid and how much he's been through it makes me wanna cry.

Its gonna be hard for these kids to get close or ever trust Anyone. My heart breaks for them. If the mothers would have put the kids first in their minds, heart and soul, things would be different. The kids are serving time.

when you think of people in prison you usually dont think of good things but seeing this shows that most people in prison are good people who made bad mistakes.

I cried so much watching this. I feel so bad for those little kids. It made me realize how much I take advantage of my parents.

So sad for the kids i wish we as parents though of
how much damage it do to the family even though we cant help it sometimes

How will mass incarceration ever amend the cycles of criminality? It's infinitely backwards to me. Hurt people, hurt people.
