Alex Garland narrates a scene from his film featuring Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson, Gina Rodriguez, Tuva Novotny and Jennifer Jason Leigh. Long-Haired: WARNING: spoilers for the new movie Annihilation
For anyone else who saw Annihilation, did anyone else feel as sorry for that poor alligator as I did?
I mean, he was forced by The Shimmers DNA-screwing to have his body injected with shark DNA; hes EXTREMELY pale with red splotches, much like vitiligo or albino skin diseases many animals get when theyre not well; clearly the whole DNA-messing had made him very, very sick. Also, when he opens his mouth up close, you can CLEARLY see multiple jaw rows like a sharks, including a circular one like an entire second set of teeth at the back at the beginning of his throat (which is why the chick stared at it in confusion for so long after shooting it up close - she was bewildered by its mouth formation. The inside of his entire mouth was all blood-red, obviously from all that being forced to grow in - he must have been in EXTREME pain! Plus, just plain frightened and probably half-crazy from the whole ordeal. And none of that its own fault. The poor thing! :O

For a movie that was supposed to be too smart for the masses there was way too much handholding scenes and scenes that were explained a few minutes later, which actually just ruined the experience. The CGI was not great, I have no idea how cgi works, but if game of thrones can have amazing cgi for a tv show a movie like this should do too, I think you guys spent a lot of money on the cgi from the end? it looked good and the ending was good, but I feel like the middle part needed better cgi, the monster-bear-boar-recorder. I am happy to see this is not an adaption of the book/s but more inspired by the book which works for me.

I love this movie very much, but I think this scene was the worst part of it, specifically this moment 1: 02.
First of all, even mutilated alligator wouldn't be able to attack her like this, he's way too short to grab her by the bag.
Second, If he would attack her from behind, he would drag her by the leg, so she certainly wouldn't get out of this shack in one piece.
By the way, it would be much easier to suspend my disbelief, if Tessa Thompson's character was crouching in that doorway, not standing in it.

Its hugely refreshing, and remarkably uncommon, to watch a genre film that revolves around intelligent characters reacting intelligently to fantastical events. We has little time for gender, imagining a future where such distinctions dont warrant recognition. I think Annihilation is more than mere visuals and it will shock, fascinate and haunt audiences, whatever screen its watched on.

I wasn't a fan of the plot or characters, but the bear scene was genuinely incredible, and a lot of the cinematography and visuals were stunning. Overall I'd say I enjoyed it, especially the bear scene and the intestines scene to a slightly lesser extent, and would recommend others watch it.

I loved this movie, the only issue I had were the fake flowers and just the plants in general, looks like they went to the 2 dollar store and stuck them all over the fishing hut. I really like plants and I think they had a chance to be just as creepy as the creatures in some aspects

Can't directors of movies think a little harder. The alligator would most likely attack from the legs and she would have been terribly wounded. Plus it would never let go anyway. She also fires two five round bursts and it still keeps on moving.

A clumsily scripted film with an immensely invigorating subtext through-out. Although the clumsiness in construction may be intentional, so as to evoke dreams and such, it does feel quite off to me.

I'm never going to see another Natalie Portman movie in the theater again unless it has a female director. By the way this is a based on a great trilogy, read the book people.

Finding out this was shot outside London is like finding out Full Metal Jacket's Vietnam scenes were shot in London. Totally thought it was shot in Florida.
