Compared to OFWs working in some companies, in some ME countries, this is already luxury living, and they are considered lucky. We used to eat side of road, prayer rosary at roof tops so nobody sees us, pass the time just staring blindly across a vast desert, saw grown up men crying while setting up scaffoldings not from hard work but from homesickness, women DH i saw peaking from a small window on a huge house waving at us in tears just cause she's glad we are working on a construction site nearby, a fellow engineer slapped on the face just cause a local couldn't find a parking space and told us to leave, some not so lucky sent home in a steel sealed coffin. So many stories about working abroad, and still you see OFWs smile because they don't want the other person to lose hope or be sad. That's being an OFW, being a kabayan. This simple video captured a glimpse of what it felt like being there, it brings such deep memories.

this was boring af but i can see why. but seriously though what else can they do in one of the wealthiest countries in the world?
a little narration could be helpful however. there is no stated reason why they can't leave, so the audience is just left with a guilt trip. come on journalism where is the synergy at?

i like how that ping pong table is positioned right next to the dart board. imagine when someone's playing the ping pong and at the same time someone's playing the dart too, the ping pong player backs up a little bit to hit the ball that went a little further back then get hits with a dart on the head: )

Maybe they don't hav passports, their ship broke down n they had to make to the nearest port for repairs, and now their unexpectedly stuck in another country n can't prove to customs who they are so a close eye is kept on them till the vessel is fixed

So, that is a glimpse in the lives of Philippine Merchant Marines. Staying on that Seafarer's Centre is better than going to a brothel. They've rested, had Wifi and bought souvenirs. At least they weren't mugged on the streets.
