bruh I can't even even do basic stitching or cutting, once I tried fixing a shirt to fit me more nicely, and it looked atrocious, I have always admired people who not only have the ability to sow, but also the artistic vision, like these cosplayers, are basically fashion designers. Even though I can get costumes that fit me, they are super expensive! and now that I am an adult I cannot afford to waste half a thousand dollars on a costume, that even though it may fit me, may not be the most flattering on me. I remember once I ordered this Tomoe Mami costume and even though the skirt fit me perfectly, and the shirt as well, the midsection -leather- thingy that goes in the middle was huge on me, I was super sad because I wasn't going to be able to wear it, and I knew if I was thin, I probably wouldn't have that issue, and is easy for others to say just loose weight, but well thankfully my sis fixed it for me: ). Anyways the only way I can see people being mean to this girl, is that they are unsatisfied with themselves, and that is why they feel the need to put her down. Like yes bish I can't sow or have the talent she does, but hating on her won't magically make me any better of a human being.

Im gonna be real with you. If you go to a con 70% of cosplayers are overweight especially if you are in the south. More than half the country is overweight and a lot of people in this community are people who feel othered so even bigger community of overweight people. There aren-t cosplay sizes for most sizes. a lot of costumes are niche and made in the size of the pattern/ costume maker or if you are buying Asian sizing that is difficult. She seems cool but weird to highlight one person doing something so normal. Would have been nice to have more voices of other overweight cosplayers as well doing it this way makes it seem like she-s the first or something.

I dont think fat people had any problem being accepted by that community since most are overweight themselves, just my opinion tho. I very well could be wrong. I dont do cosplay and dont know much about it. But I have seen the people at comicon all dressed up and the majority were bigger.
To each their own.
I wish I could sew as good as she does! I would make myself so many outfits, I'd have my dream closet --

Once when you start to make your own costume you will be proud of yourself, the feeling is different from when you order costume from custom made shop, even if the costume looks beautiful but somehow it-s like the costume is make by some body else, in Thailand we have custom made costume, before if I want a costume I will go to custom made costume play shop, but since Corona virus and the pandemic it told me that if I want a costume I have to make it myself

It's easy to type something behind a screen but it's another to see someone like you out on the street and not judge, and to be able to tell you to your face how incredible you are. Long story short I'm on a different persons account but I'm actually a curvy woman as well. It would be nice to not always feel judged period. -

Look it does not matter about body type beauty standard does not exist in cosplay community you can become anybody that you want to be and always looks beautiful the way you are, once when I take a picture I did not look skinny either, it does not matter the only thing that I care is about the costume and wigs, but not about body shape

And a inspiration for women ( like my self) who are bigger but have always been afraid to because we always believed that cosplay was just something for thinner folks ( no negativity intended. just saying folks) But it's so wonderful to see people like you be happy by being who you are. :)

i cos played decades before it was even trendy, back then it was just about making your own costumes and having fun. the problem is now you have these botoxed, siliconed, over worked with surgery girls taking it over. because its some how a trend these days. do you girl and f-ck them haters

I believe what she is doing is absolutely fine. However just being like, -I-m plus size and am not going to change that-, is a bit like, you know because I personally have nothing against her or anyone plus size, but at the end of the day it isn-t physically healthy in the long term.

I'm a plus size cosplayer too. I've been on the comic con and cosplay scene for 8 years now and I do feel lots of insecurites with my body type and color of my skin. I haven't experienced verbal racial harassment so far.

I've been thinking of doing cosplay for a good time now, and I've never done it because my mom doesn't think the one's that I want to do would look good on me as I'm very heavy set but seeing this has really helped

White people only have a problem with being plus size. In central Africa, we don't care whether you are plus size or not, on the contrary being curvy for a woman is one of our beauty standards.
