A YOUNG transgender video games designer with Tourettes is looking to revolutionize the industry - and make dancing accessible for all. Isaac Wirth, 21, from North Carolina, first fell in love with gaming while watching his father play Super Mario Sunshine on the Nintendo GameCube at the age of five. But Isaac found certain games challenging due to motor-neural issues - which made holding a joystick or doing precise motion movements problematic. Age 14 he was diagnosed with Tourette-s Syndrome by a neurologist after beginning to demonstrate motor and vocal tics. And to make things even more complex for Isaac, over the

I-m going to write a comment this once because it-s not worth the energy responding to disrespect.
This person is -not effecting ANYONE- by how they choose to identify. There are awful terrible things in the world, people that hurt others, cause violence and damage people-s lives forever.
This person is doing some good in the world especially thinking deeply into subjects such as accessibility which is very often overlooked.
If you sat next to this person on a bus, would you be disgusted no, you-d just see a person! But suddenly because someone has said out loud that they identify as trans they-re suddenly disgusting? -Think about that, does that REALLY make any sense at all? -
How a person identifies does not effect ANYONE else apart from them! As long as someone is happy and not hurting anyone then they at least deserve human respect.
It infuriates me that people click on a video JUST to spread negativity. Why waste your energy like that? If it is that -disgusting- to you then why click on it?
This person is not effecting you in the slightest by their identity. What-s most important is that people are happy and comfortable whatever that may look for them.
What we should be focusing on here is the work that he (don-t waste your time correcting me, that-s just petty, the work that he is doing to make a positive difference to the world by thinking about PEOPLE, accessible gaming is massively overlooked and the genuine care this person has for others is what we should really be taking away from this.

I-m disappointed by some of the comments under this video. It-s great that trans people have another trans person to look up to! It-s also great that people with Tourette-s have someone else with Tourette-s to look up to! I bet a lot of people with Tourette-s or people who were trans grew up being told the things they CAN-T do. This video shows that you CAN be who you are and you CAN accomplish things in your life. So, please be kind and remember the 2 rules you learned in kindergarten: -Treat others the way you want to be treated. - And -If you don-t have anything nice to say, don-t say it at all. -

Imagine what it would feel like to be another person with Tourette's or another man of trans experience who learns that someone who is like them was able to create all these cool things, win a scholarship, etc. Or to play one of his games and feel like their experience was captured and the game was actually made for people like them, for once. That is the power of inclusivity and representation. Great work to the young man featured- you will go far!

Already at a young age you have fought two battles, identity and Tourrettes, and here you are, undefeated being creative with obvious talents in both Dance and Tech. You should be mega proud of just being where you are at this moment, because you have fought to live it, and won. Your a inspiration, and your life you deserve to live is all yours. Thank you for sharing

Not gonna be rude. He claimed to be trans but his lifestyle way more toward girlish. Ballet, fluffy teddy bear in the corner, the way he interpret his emotion just like girl express it. I think he want to convince other people so hard he is male but deep down he knows that he is not.

It really warms my heart to see diversity seeping into historically monolithic communities. Media influenced by underrepresented groups can make a world of difference towards building a more inclusive and accepting society. We've come a long way and I am very hopeful for the future: )

Guess what? Nobody cares what you identify as or your disabilities if you can make a good game. Similarly if you make a poor game your identity/disability is not a get-out-of-jail free card that precludes your game from criticism.

Isaac, YOU ARE AWESOME! Imagine what a healthier, happier world we would have if there were no bullies. Bullies shape our children into who and what they become as adults. I really wish our schools took bullying more seriously.

How odd that people that have huge imaginations which they vet out thru gaming also have enough imaginations to think their a gender that they're definitely not -. I guess imaginations and feelings supersede facts

I support how (uh she? -- sorry I'm not shure (---)-) he/she is making those games! Its ok to be different! We all are afterall: 3. And if it makes you happy and makimg games is ok then don't stop duing it! :D

I love those game ideas, havent played yet, but will check it out. And that gif almost made me cry. It was so simple, but so effective and amazing
reply

Omg. Who really cares. There's more important things in the world than the crazy ppl who define themselves by how they play dress up.

What does Trans have to do with Game Designer? When someone is a Game Designer do you go by their gender or what they have made?
reply

It-s amazing how activites can help with tics. My friend has really bad Tourette-s and when she does music she doesn-t tic.
reply

Why do they put the gender in the title? I think it doesn't matter. Who cares if someones male, female etc.
