KENEDI Smith, 28, has been a surrogate three times. She said: -I would say I am addicted to surrogacy. - She was first inspired to become a surrogate as she grew up seeing her own mum, Ellen, complete three surrogacy journeys. After she had her son, Kenedi started looking into how to become a surrogate when she was 21 years old. Ellen was concerned at first but then got on board with it and supported her daughter through the journeys. The pair started a podcast to share their stories and discuss topics related to, and inform listeners, about surrogacy. Kenedi said she loves being pregnant and going through delivery. She said: -I love being in the delivery room with them. That's my favourite part. And being able to watch them see their baby and meet their baby. - But Kenedi has also been judged for her role as a surrogate. She has received comments saying she is -messing up- her own child, or that she-s -playing God-. People have also questioned her motivations - saying that she is only doing it for the money. Kenedi said: -People have accused me of selling my body. - But Kenedi asserts that she has been able to show her son different ways people can have a family and said: -My main motivation for doing multiple services is I can. It's my body, my choice. - Kenedi is in the process of beginning her fourth journey and is excited to be a surrogate again and to continue making an impact in the surrogacy world

I think what she does is a truly beautiful thing. Just because some women can't physically have children, doesn't mean they don't deserve them or won't be phenomenal mothers. It isn't easy to carry children, and regardless of the hardships she may endure while doing it, she continues to give these precious gifts to other women who can't do this themselves. What a wonderful woman -. She most definitely should be compensated. She has a child she has to support, and it would be hard to continue to do such a selfless act, literally giving her body for another life, AND working an average job. What a wonderful woman -

To be honest, I've been wondering if that's something I'd like to try.
I've never wanted to have my own kids to raise, but for some reason I'd like to experience pregnancy. But I'm sure I'll have to seriously educate myself about surrogacy because it doesn't sound that easy to do, with the risks of the pregnancy and the attachment one may have with the newborn.
Idk much about the subject but if they have no regrets I'm happy they were able to go through that experience and able to help others who want to have children but weren't able to have them naturally.

Anyone who has never experienced not being able to have a child, the pain and heartbreak of miscarriages after miscarriages, or even your uterus taken from you by cancer or other reasons, you have absolutely NO right to talk down on her and others who do the same. They are providing a women who can-t carry a child to full term, a chance to be a mother. For a man who has too low a sperm count, or any of the number of things preventing him to be a father, to be a father. If you have never experienced this pain, you have NO RIGHT TO LOOK DOWN ON THEM. Period.

Surrogacy is such a profoundly generous, selfless thing to do. Money doesn't balance out the physical hardship, the risk to your health (and potentially your life, especially in a country like the US with a high maternal mortality rate, the possible longterm medical consequences, the time and energy you commit to everything involved in carrying a pregnancy to term, etc. I'm 100% childfree and even I can understand that, lol.
Thank you for everything you've done for those families, you absolutely amazing woman -

Surrogates need to be paid so much more. One pregnancy should be at least $120k. You are doing the work 24/7 for -9 months. It infiltrates every aspect of your life during that time plus the recovery period. And the time is the least taxing part of this job- the actual physical and emotional labor put into pregnancy in and of itself should be worth at least $120k. It's a commendable job and I'm glad she enjoys it, but she deserves more (as do the majority of working class citizens.

I guess in some situations I understand why someone would use a surrogate. I don't think women that can get pregnant should be outsourcing that job but if you can't get pregnant then I suppose it's an (less than ideal) option. But, I don't know how the surrogates do it. I've had 3 children and I don't care how much you paid me I wouldn't have been able to just hand them over to someone else. I just couldn't do it, I grew that baby for 9 months, I'm taking that baby home with me.

So many children out there need homes. Adoption is taken from them. All the privileged ones are paying for a baby. It's not your baby. You didn't carry it, give birth to it; you bought it; if the surrogate didn't get paid, do you really think you'd have a baby. Ask the surrogates to do it for free. You're buying a baby from someone; that's it. She's not a good person. She needs money. If you don't pay no Babay

Who would claim that surrogacy is selling your body? It's lending your womb to deserving parents, giving them the joy of parenthood. The pay is just a thankyou token because you can't put a price to that level of selflessness. You can equate it to organ donation. My love and respect to all surrogates. I'd like to be one but I've never had an opportunity to. I'm 38 very healthy woman.

I don-t get it, she is helping people. Like sh-t, the fact that people don-t have anything better to do these days makes me sick. Imagine you couldn-t have a child of your own and adoption wasn-t a preference or option, and someone was willing to carry your baby, so you could still have a child with your partner. I think ur doing amazing girl. Thank you for helping those people!

I dont have a problem with surrogages have been around since the beginning of time and people will be surprised that most women who are surrogates have close to a 70% success stories for parents who wanted a baby and most of the babies came out to be productive citizens versus other numbers where you have baby daddies and baby mama drama.

She is growing another family's blessing. She has this calm and peace about herself that is so important when pregnant for the babies growth. No negative comments from me. I know the pain of wanting a child and having health issues so in my eyes she is my hero for others.

I wish I could afford this. I've had 2 stillborn daughters, one at 30 weeks, and one at 36 weeks. I had a son at 25 weeks. Doctors have tested me to no end and still haven't come up with why I can't carry the baby to term safely. I've also had 4 miscarriages too.

I think what she is doing is such a beautiful thing! Bringing life into this world for a family who cannot. I wouldn-t go as far as some people are saying that it-s playing God. Because it-s not. I absolutely love this! And like she said HER BODY HER CHOICE.
reply

Why do people insist their bloodline is special? I just can-t understand why people are so against adoption. I-m not faulting her for making bank on this, but I definitely think people who want a surrogate or do IVF are disgusting.
reply

--- it-s so rough on the body being pregnant, it depletes so many bodily vitals so many risks with pregnancy in general. As humans we have choices and this is your personal choice. $40, 000 is definitely not enough for this job.
reply

Surrogacy is way cheaper and faster than going through marriage and divorce. I-ve been considering it along with adopting for some time now. Maybe have a boy or girl via surrogate then adopt after that and go about my business.

She is amazing she is helping people and so kind caring and that is so beautiful and incredible thing and love her positive attitude energy and always so sweet and I appreciate her hard work devotion to surrogacy -

Infertility has been on such a rise that I-m happy for all here assuming the child is healthy and the parents do a good job otherwise it will ruin a childs life not a risk I-m willing to take
reply

Thank you so much - for helping other's. It's not easy to carry the pregnancy this is not about money. people need to understand especially these who are judging her. -
reply

She was only paid $120K for THREE surrogacies! That-s ridiculously taking advantage of the human body. There-s so much physical and emotional stress involved.
reply

You have mortally sinned against their god, the state god: the one that gives you healthcare, roads, and takes your children to die killing other races. Repent!
reply

I don-t see why people are so up in arms about surrogacy. I think it-s wonderful that she is able to do so and it inspires me to try one day if I am able.
reply

I want to have 4 kids with my boyfriend/future husband, however if it's possible to be an surrogate in my own country I 100% would do it once, maybe twice
reply

I wanted to be a surrogate so bad! -but after my PPD with my daughter and an emergency C section I-m TERRIFIED to go through pregnancy again -
reply

Its not something I personally could do, but I think it-s great that there are people who can and do and are happy with their decisions.
reply

Playing god, how does that work, she-s giving birth the natural way, the only difference is that another couple will be raising the child.
reply

I'm more interested in why she chose this particular way to help and why she likes the state of being pregnant/giving birth so much
reply

There's nothing wrong with this at all she's helping people that can't have babies I would do it to to help people as well
reply

I wish to be a surrogate at least once, if I'm physically capable. I just need to have one own child before doing that!
reply

Screw what other people say. She is doing God's work by providing for a family who wouldn't be able to do it without her.
