A TEENAGER from Liberia is hoping to have life-changing surgery to remove an enormous growth on his leg. Charles, 16, has Neurofibromatosis, which causes tumours to grow along his nerves. The rare condition was first noticed by his father, Charles Sr, when he spotted a small black mole on his son-s leg. The tumour now weighs around 5kg and makes life incredibly difficult for Charles. He told Truly: -It can be heavy for me to walk, it can be heavy to move. I can-t go to school and it can be hard to play with my friends. - Charles Sr. says people haven-t always been sympathetic to his son-s condition. He said: -When little children come and they see him, they pass and they run. Some children are afraid when they see the foot. - Now, two Liberian charities, Legacy Holding Foundation and Liberian Women Advocacy Network International, are working together to find a surgeon who can remove the growth. Dr Richards, from local hospital AMI Liberia, told Truly: -I think the leg has gotten bigger since we first saw him. It has become more plexiform, meaning it has folded upon itself. Charles, who wants to be an electrician when he-s older, is staying positive, and hopes he can get the treatment he desperately needs. When asked about his plans after the potential surgery, Charles said: -I will be happy to run with my friends. I will be the happiest man on earth. - Charles- GoFundMe page

Unfortunately in the countries where humans get a lot of these genetic defects, (happens a lot in India) people marry Cousins and have children. The children end up with genetic defects as the genes are too close. Its a silly tradition in these poor countries to marry cousins.

For all those wondering, there is a link in the description for his go fund me appeal. I and many here have donated and I hope many more will. I can only afford a small amount but I hope it will all add up so that Charles can get the help he so desperately needs.

What I find so interesting with individuals with afflictions like this, they don't want a handout, they want to be normal and work for a living. Not be a plastic sugar baby being kept. Truly respectable, another reminder of what some wealthy nations lack.

Everyone please take the time to donate, the link is in the description and so far 15k people have watched, if everyone even just gave 50 cents it would be met. Nobody deserves to go through this, don-t just watch the video

Getting his leg amputated and getting a proper prosthetic would change this poor boy's life. Surely there is a doctor somewhere who can do this surgery for free.

Really, who in the living hell would dislike this, they are just born differently and have needs like us. They are still people and you should respect that-

I'm wondering - are videos like this monetized? And if yes, is the money going to Truly? I wish it would be donated to people's fundraising pages.

So sad! But amputation looks like the only option at this point in that massive tumor. I look so painful!
